Here we are using the Total Wrap Gloss70.400 Series in Mandarin Orange vinyl.
This film has been specifically designed for the vehicle wrap market with the soft hybrid vinyl
and adhesive system offering very good conformability and adhesion values
which allows the film to be applied and removed without leaving adhesive transfer.
Use your squeegee with long and firm strokes. Always use your squeegee in the direction
of an exit point. This allows the air to escape.
Heating here re-tensions your film allowing it to be applied easily into the curves or
or recesses of the panel.
A gloved finger around the curve helps to smooth out any wrinkles.
Here is a demonstration of what not to do when stretching around corners. The main mistake
is to heat a small section of the vinyl and then stretch it around the curve applying
with your squeegee.
Instead you should apply heat over a large area and then let the vinyl naturally drop
into place without over-stretching. By heating a small area, stretching and applying, you
are running the risk of the vinyl becoming overstretched and failing over a large surface
area of the panel.
Continue to use the correct technique around the curve of the panel and the vehicle.
Heat a large area and then allow the vinyl to drop into place.
Use the flat edge of the scalpel against the bodywork -- not directly onto the paintwork.
Always change your blade between cuts to ensure the neatest possible finish.
Post-heat the edges and use a gloved hand for the final finishing touches.
IN SUMMARY, apply to flat areas first and ensure you heat large areas to allow the film
to drop naturally rather than pulling around the compound curves.
