Right so here we are drawing the human head part 2
we are going to look at the side and by looking at the side
of what you notice a few things so often you see
some version of the head that looks similar to this
that standard superhero head where you know we have
a big square jawed guy right here and has ears and
and then all of a sudden there's a lot of real estate
back there you want to draw here you want to draw hero
it looks heroic and has a thick neck etc. etc.
but if you look it over here this is a human skull
miss the human skull release of a pretty good replica
of it in the and so is this is this seems to be more
of a medical drawing real human skull you notice
they all don't look exactly the same because again
our faces don't look exactly the same and not everyone
has a huge neck that's starting back here and if you
put that on a regular human being that's seems a little
ridiculous as you neck isn't starting back here year
where year where your spine is connected to its can
be right in this area is where your where your
bones are and that's where it's going to be connected
to your your trunk or your trunk's going to be
connected to the rib cage so even if in so what when
people draw thick necks of their drawing these muscles
that are in here and the ones that come down this way
and are attaching to the front of the collarbone and
I'll get into the muscles after we go over the skeleton
but I just want to show you that if you join something
realistic especially the coming from a a comic book
background or not really a comic book background but
you trying to draw not based off of human anatomy but
based off of comic book anatomy I just want to show you
that is you can see for yourself the human skull is not
this is not always this super oblong object that is you
know that there is a lot of books out there that show
you that this version and you know you'll see the the
skeleton and then so you see some sort of sorry I was
starting to draw abig skull but you'll you'll see something that
has this over exaggerated oblong shape when you can look
for yourself right here because this is the angle of the
of the head and I even turned it this way's angle of the
head you can see that how much real estate the actual human
face takes up that's this right here is this area right here
you can see how much the actual face takes up so you know
it's not all skull cranium and then there's a little bit of
a head this way that is done and there's nothing wrong with
doing that but I want you to understand what the human head
actually looks like in the know that everyone has different
proportions as I showed you in the last video so let's kind
of look at some of the things that do stay the same once again
if we looking at it from the side now I right here is the front
of I and if were going down just like in the front you see what
we had teeth back here of course because you have lips that
are touching you have lips that are covering your mouth is
think about it logically and so this this quarter right here
this a good good place to stop we go to make your lips we
also can see right here if you see this overbite of the tooth
that's the reason why in all books they tell you that if you
go to draw that top lip the bottom lip is can it be underneath
this is where we get that shape from because right here we have
the evidence is right here your top the teeth right over here
your teeth are sitting over the top of your bottom
teeth if I drew this in I can make It look a
little bit more forward you can see that all of this back
in here you can also see the size of everything if I'm going
down this way is probably pretty much is a good place to
stop where the lips are if I'm just following if I'm just
tracing over the human skull we can see that so if I brought
this down a little bit you can kind of get get a idea of
see what's going on here is over to me this is one of the most
important things in not is that eye line going down here because
that helps you out with so many things now if I were just
drawing in a circle to come encompass this encompassing
the skull look at what happens right here see that that's
where I is so if our eye is right here then may be if I
drew that same circle below the the same circle
below and we can see that this area is the, slopes down
on granted there is going to be a nose and it's going to be some
lips but for the most part if you just drawing in your
basic is just trying to to your layout because In a minute I
start talking to you guys in terms of actually getting
work done which is can a copy this right over here this
looks like if I divided this part in half I just bring
this up a little bit more it looks like right about here
right with the line is underneath their looks like right
we could put the eye it and we could see this eye socket
looks different from this one in this one but for the most
part is opening up on the side so if anything look at it
like this some sort of V-shaped that's the that the shape
that you, looking at and the nose get a little bit messy but
if we took this figure still do our same thing we divide
that in about half from top to bottom is good to be the
bottom of our nose and wishing we put this at it looks
like it's in thirds right as it sits about third that's
one third that's two thirds and that is three over 3
thirds so we just bring this down in half and slope
this in front now we've got our jaw and so also in
between this half of this about where our noses with
about is an approximation again I different want to
move this forward a little bit so images do that now
is a simple for a lot of drawing is about doing
correcting what you're doing a self we divide this
in half look at what happens here is still good to
be are are the opening of our mouth and we know this
is bigger and we just bring in the chin right here
also the edge of our I seems to be where the the dip
of the where the the the point of your cheekbone is
your cheekbone that's the word I was looking for it's
in the morning one of doing a some a little little groggy
here and so that's can be the line for your cheekbone
and if your ear looking at him now overhears a little
bit different this person is different cheekbones but
this is make an approximation there was also look at
the fact that your cheekbone also seems to line up
with the bottom of you knows it's about in that area
and right over here was to be your ear so let's let's
go ahead and construct the side view so if you're
having trouble making if you're having trouble making
ovals you you should practice on it but if you notice
squared off a little bit in then rounded that's fine to
and so what do we already kind noble we know that this
is good to be the eye some I take this is squared off
from the side here another right up in this area is good
to be I sums caput are little D shape in here right us
the D shape again I want to bring this down think of this
is a like a face mask doesn't have to be perfect so
I got one third to third that looks about right right here
so images go-ahead and bring this over and this seems to
be a little bit skinnier so let's make this jaw little bit
skinnier now I have this line right here and we move this up
a little bit sort of readjust this this is the socket this is
this stage right here are measurements and I'll show you what
you can do with them as we progress but this is a measurement
I'm really concerned with right here this being be the marks for
the nose is good to be the mark for the nose and is right in
between here one half again its kind of the mouth and were
bringing our jaw down here in my really concerned about making
this shape right now now I'm not to be concerned about that
because we just don't a simplified version of where the skull
is we know that the top of the the mouth sticks out a little bit
that's are we get the the top of the lip always good to bring
this up over here we can keep it opened up around so these are
your that just just some measurements for checks and balances
where we stop the what it want to stop the mouth that one a
set the mouth right where the eye is on the change colors here
we want to stop right about here so now when I am drawing and I
just want to make a face really quick what I'm doing is this I
see I see my little slope right here up with the eye and in no
you always have to measure not a bad idea to measure put mama
I'm putting the nose in half of this some also been a put the
mouth in an there is my face but the ears down here and then
like this little met messy area back here I just think that off
is not a big deal at all the want to fit that onto the with I
want this to be consistent because right now you see this this is
a pretty generic face right here what we can do is spring the
the the levels of this download that okay and so now what I'm
drawing I can just go in pretty much do whatever I want to do
I have all this freedom here to to draw the eyes and I'm just
going over the this little foundation that I laid out over
here that's the the power of laying in those construction
lines see so even over here you could see I just made an
approximation was turn this into a character to to prove
what I'm say
and so now no matter what your style is as
long as you that those measurements right you can do
some pretty cool stuff with just this basic we just the
basics that I'm showing you using dreads here and again
not wanting to turn these videos into you know hey look at me draw
I'll I want you all out there to without a doubt be
comfortable with getting your own stuff done this is
not about me it's about you becoming better and thank you
everybody has been subscribing and if you're learning
anything for my videos please subscribe absolutely subscribe
and I also joined the my Facebook my Facebook group with his
lot artists on their there, learn the same things skivvies
do to goatee so you see at register this character right here
let's let's look at what's do one more and right now not even
going in any order because I'm already laid in party laid in
the groundwork here
and without doing very much you see the
register a female character here right so so that's the power
of of the lines of of the human form and them so I think that
the next step would be to how does this relate to 3-D space so
if is the let's do that are next lesson will finish up ahead and
double move on but for right now what I would really like for you
to do is look at some human skulls online and just see what you can
gather from edges do this I know this seems like a very this maven
seem like a little bit of a of a retread of my earlier lesson but
it's it's it's not because what I want you to do is after you make
your measurements after you make your measurements I want to put
faces on them and is may is may seem a little counterintuitive
but the reason why want you to start putting faces I want to
do a bunch of these on the side so let's let's get back to
me give you guys specific assignments you should be doing
examinee has I can fit here is going to parses assignment of
all shapes and all varieties because I want you to do male
and female so thin pages of or 10 male 10 female I'm the
greatest speller and writer ever conveyed is a male or
10 male 10 female and I want you do five pages but is a
catch what is not really a catch I should say when we
are looking at knowing what you know from the detective
work of the eye is going right down here is you could
see this is all line up like I said it would I want you
to do a little bit of variety solicit you do draw it alive
chin that's see do that what you do have a fix that well
I know that my skull is going here I drew this really huge
chin I want you doing the regular wages to do a regular
standard kind of the face but then I want you to flip it
and put some variety into so if we did this if I divided
that in half and that in half what would happen if I had
a character that look like that is a very attractive character
over here now not really and we also know that are ear were
also looking at it from where it seems a little silly but
this to be some character for may be Henchman or or
something else I want you guys to start playing with
the proportions and variety and see if you can can do
that I still want eye line to be here with still than
a line up if you keep this your pupil lined up with the
edge of your face and if you dividing these in half after
divided in half well maybe bring the nose up bring that
down don't do it half do it another way maybe the noses
way down here in your mouth is here how does that change
a character and the reason why don't have a problem
with anybody doing this is because chances are your
already drawing faces anyway so just apply your
style to this method is see if that helps out and
I'll see you guys a next video will use some of the
principles from an earlier drawing video that I did on
how to draw the head in 3-D space and we are going to
solve some problems so that they are note of parts of the
human skull that you don't understand like if I am drawn a
character from this angle over here how much of the nose
should I show where where is this going in and what it shape
is the chin and so that's that's the jist of what well get
into the next video so I thank you very much I hope you
guys learned something and please subscribe and help spread
the word of you are learning something thanks alot
