SteriPen Journey LCD UV Water Purifier Hey everyone, Tony the Filter Doctor here.
Today we’re looking at the SteriPen Journey LCD UV Water Purifier.
Now the concept here is really very simple. The Journey LCD uses powerful germicidal UV
rays to zap microorganisms and kill or render them completely harmless.
You simply turn the unit on, immerse it in water, and the water sensor automatically
turns the UV bulb on and starts the timer. It then automatically shuts the unit off when
the proper dose of UV rays has been applied. And the LCD display shows the timer progress
and the battery condition. Used correctly the Journey LCD exceeds the
US EPA Standard for microbiological water purification and, in fact, will destroy 99.9999%
of bacteria, 99.99% of viruses, and 99.9% of protozoa.
The unit is extremely durable and will perform 8,000 one liter doses of UV. If you purified
four liters of water per day, every day, this unit would last you five years.
Now, please note that pre-filtering the water before you perform the UV action is strongly
recommended. You see, that’s because sediment in water will block the penetration of the
UV rays. If you have a Fits All Filter from SteriPen that’s a great choice. But, if
not, use a bandana or another cloth to filter some of the sediment out before you apply
the UV rays. That way they can effectively penetrate and zap those microorganisms before
they zap you. Now this unit is compact and very lightweight.
In fact, it weighs a mere 4.5 ounces with the batteries. That’s half the weight of
most filter pumps. It’s perfect for anyone who’s doing outdoor activities or traveling
and where you have a water source of unknown quality that might have microorganisms.
Again, this is the SteriPen Journey LCD UV Water Purifier, and I’m your host Tony the
Filter Doctor. Thanks for watching.
