Hello everyone Michael here with the daily note 2 into YouTube channel and today I want
to talk about walking mate walking mate is a widget that keeps track
of your steps throughout the day by using the pedometer inside your galaxy note 3 and
it is a part of S health now there is this widget that you could place
on your home screen also on your lockscreen you could see that
you can add a widget can add widgets by hitting this plus button and finding S health it ends
up in there and you could closely monitor your steps throughout the day
so by a lot of health professional standards people say you should walk 10,000 steps a
day so it gives you that 10,000 steps as your goal throughout the day
so let's it start so the cool thing about this is that it does
is keep on counting your steps throughout the day even when the screen is off
and is not going to stop at the end of day it just keeps account of your daily steps
every day so you could hit that 10,000 step goal and I wouldn't have not thought of turning
this feature on except my girlfriend has a galaxy S4 and it is one of her favorite features
of that phone and it encourages her to try to make that goal every day so I thought it
was a nice feature to receive on the galaxy note 3
so just to show you that it's working I'm going to shake this device a little bit and
you could see the numbers steps went up and the screen is off
let me just shake it a little bit And there you go, and just like any pedometer
out there, the number of the numbers steps isn't going to be hundred percent accurate
but it is a good reference to see if you were light on walking that day so you could walk
a little bit more if you do want to make that goal of 10,000 steps a day
So let me show you how to get pedometer functionality on the galaxy note 2 unlike the note 3 which
has a pedometer built-in this one it uses a gyro sensor to do it
so let's click on so you could see it is just as good for counting your steps
unfortunately I've noticed that when the screen is off it stops counting your steps
so there is a small workaround for this in the settings
go to settings keep screen on and then when you enable this
and you hit the power button you can see it turns on your screen at the
lowest brightness and it just keeps it like that
and there is definitely some battery drain there but it's not too bad since it is at
it's lowest brightness but you should probably only turn on this pedometer this app when
you're really exercising now I haven't had the opportunity to play
with this app too much so keep an eye on this setting you might need to turn that off after
you're done exercising anyway that's the end of today short episode
and I'm really happy to have this feature on my phone if it encourages me to walk just
a little bit more only good things can come out of that
and if you haven't been to my channel please come my channel to check out more videos on
