Hey everyone! Today I'm going to show you a totally tubular
80's inspired costume look. I recently sported this costume at a Halloween
5K and I'm happy to report that you can run and sweat
in this look without any problems. Let's get started with nails.
For this look, I painted each nail a different bright color.
You can use any bright colors you have in your collection but here's what I
chose.
OPI's Don't Mess With OPI. Sephora by OPI's
It's My Pink from Betsy Johnson collection.
OPI's No Room For The Blues. China Glaze's
Happy Go Lucky. OPI's A Grape Fit!
Then I painted over each color with one coat
of OPI's White Shatter Nail Polish to make this look
truly radical. The makeup look
is all about bright eyes. You can choose
any color you like, I'm going for a purple look because I had several shades
of purple in my collection.
So, go ahead and start off with your foundation and concealer.
I'm using the Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation
in N117 and Laura Geller's The Real Deal Concealer
in the shade light. Next fill in your eyebrows.
I'm going for a more natural look today but the 80's were
all about big brows so feel free to go crazy.
I'm using Anastasia Brown's Powder Duo in Strawburn and
I'm applying it with an Angled Brush. Once your brows are ready, you can start
with the base
of your eye shadow look. Since I needed this look to be sweatproof,
I started with the Tarte Waterproof Amazonian clay cream shadow
in Slate but really any waterproof shadow will help make sure your makeup
stays in place.
Then I followed up with NYX's Glam Shadow Stick
in Vibrant Amethyst just to give it a little more of a purple base.
You don't have to be perfect here because we'll blend later.
To give your eyes that awesome
80's look, start with a lighter shade on the
inner corner of your lid. I'm using Urban Decay's Eye
Shadow in Exhaust. In the middle of your lid,
add a brighter shade in the color of your look.
I'm adding this MAC Eye Shadow in Purple Shower.
Finish off the by using a darker shade on the
outer corner of the lid and in the crease. Here
I'm using Estee Lauder Eye Shadow in Amethyst.
Next we blend!
Blend, blend, blend, blend, blend until those colors
flow smoothly together. Now it's time for some blush!
Go ahead and use a blush brush to add a bright
pink blush. This is Tarte's Amazonian clay
12-hour Blush in Flush. That's a lot of times to say blush
and Flush. To add a little more definition,
you can apply bronzer. This Matte Bronzing Powder
by Two Faced is called Chocolate Soleil
and it even smells like chocolate and once again
don't forget to blend, blend, blend, blend, blend.
Now that I've applied my blush and bronzer,
I like to finish off my eyebrows with Maybelline's
Great Lash Clear Mascara. When applying your eyeliner,
make sure to choose one that's waterproof. I'm using NYX's Water Proof
Glam Liner in Glam Black and I'm giving it
a slight winged effect. Finish the eyes with some waterproof mascara,
like this Cover Girl Lash Blast
Black Waterproof Mascara. For the lips
start with a pink lipliner, I'm using Makeup Forever's
Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in 15C.
Add you favorite pink lip gloss. I couldn't pick a favorite so I chose to
start with NYX's
Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream and then I layered Lush's
Bubbly Liquid Lipstick on top. Seal in your look with a setting spray, like
Urban Decay's All Nighter Setting Spray and your makeup will stay
all through your 5K. The hair style we're creating works
best with 2nd day hair. So, start with a dry shampoo.
I've applied TRESemme's Fresh Start Dry
Shampoo. If your hair is not already curled,
find the smallest barrel of curling iron you can find.
I think this curling iron is a quarter inch curling iron and may even
be from the 80's. Once your hair is curled,
you can start your look. If you have bangs like I do,
go ahead and leave them straight. You can backcomb them, creating a very small
poof. Pin down the poof by criss crossing
two bobby pins. Next gather your hair
into a side pony tail. Use a neon pink
Twistband to hold it up. I actually made this
Twistband by using materials I found at craft store.
If your hair does not look exactly how you want it in the side ponytail,
feel free to re-curl sections to achieve your desired look.
Last but not least, spray that sucker down.
I hate the smell of most hair sprays but this Got 2B 2Sexy Hair Spray
is much more tolerable in my opinion. The costume for this look
is all about comfort. Start with an Oversized Sweater,
this one is from Target, add some tight running pants,
leg warmers, bright sunglasses, and bold
earrings. Put it all together and you've got a totally
gnarly 80s look. Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.
