Emergencies and disasters can happen at any time for a variety of reasons that we can
never predict accurately. The safest thing is to try to stay prepared as best as possible
and have a plan of what to do in these circumstances. Follow this urban survival guide to help prepare
yourself.
Not everyone has or wants a completely self-sufficient homestead or farm out in the country. Many
live in urban environments and are tied to them with work, school, and family reasons.
Even in an urban environment you can still be a survivalist but preparing.
Regardless of the situation staying physically fit is of utmost importance. A fit body will
require less medicines from future problems that you would have to have access to in a
survival situation. A fit body will also be able to transport itself and goods in case
you had to leave your city on foot. Stay active because you may need it.
Keep a basic supply of food and water just in case you need it. There are many methods
to do this. Just make sure you have some. Get some basic survival gear. This would be
fire making tools, camping equipment, ways to stay warm, and basic tools you may need.
Have lists of contact information at home and in every vehicle. During a panicked situation,
your mind or a family member's mind might blank out. You want to be able to contact
family members and friends and have them contact you.
If you ever have to evacuate, plan on where you would go. Have a place that you can go
to just in case. This could be a spot out in the woods or it could be a friend or family
members home to stay in.
Make a 72 hour bag or a bug out bag. These are backpacks that you can grab in case of
an emergency where you would have all of your supplies needed for a few days. Have a long
term plan of staying the local area in the case where you could be quarantined because
of a sickness. Also have a plan of getting out of the area quickly for other disasters.
