They say an eco-friendly house can't be built in 150 days for a $150,000, and I say it can.
I'm Allen Smith: join me as I push the limits with time, budget and creativity with the
Garden Home Challenge, exclusively on eHow Home. Well, I'm Tony Jr., and I cut boards
around here. That's mainly what I do, take care of him, whatever he needs I get for him.
We're not friends--whenever--from 8 to 4, or from 7-4:30, however long we work. It's
gotta be that way, though, you know? I've been working with him off and on since I was
15. So I'm kinda used to working with him. I have got mad and quit a few times, but not
lately. I do mess up every now and again, but I'm not perfect by no means. Getting it
out of the ground was the most challenging part for me. Once we get up on top of the
blocks, were we can start doing the floor joists and the bands and the walls and all
that, I do can do that pretty good. But the hard parts over with. Well, I think the front
porch looks real good, now that it's been painted and stuff. And the hallway looks real
good, since we got it done. That beadboard upstairs looks really nice I thought. Sometimes
we get deadlines we don't think we can meet, but we try our hardest and that's all we can
do, you know? When you have a vision of something, you're the only one who can truly sees that
vision, and it's up to us to put that vision together. And a lot times we have to take
it back apart because it's not what he wants, you know? But it's probably the most aggravating
part is getting something done and then you have to tear windows and move them over 4
or 5 inches, or, you know. I learn something everyday that I didn't realize before. First
thing I'm gonna do when this job is done is go fishing for a couple of days. What's your
favorite part of the house? The end.
