Thieves reach an all time low. Tony La Russa’s take on instant replays. And an awesome pic
from a St. Louis mailman in our meta moment. Unless you’re the mailman.
That and more .. Today in The Sift. Welcome to The Sift...I’m Gabrielle Biondo
with the best of what St. Louis is talking about today.
What’s worse than stealing from grandma? Um.. Stealing from grandma after she’s dead.
So.. that’s exactly what thieves are doing for drug money.
Yep.. according to KMOX..The Franklin County sheriff says thieves are so desperate they’re
stealing urns out of cemeteries.. And getting money for the metal.
Oh… karma. Instant replays do not slow down the game
of baseball. Instant replays do not slow down the game
of baseball. That’s according former Cardinals manager
Tony La Russa. The issue has long been debated.. And now
the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.. La Russa says it could in fact speed things up.
Quote..”instead of a long argument, you can go out and challenge and have your answer
within a minute. In a normal challenge play, you’ll get an answer within 10 to 20 seconds.”
By the way, guess who’s coming home to St. Louis?
Andy Cohen and his dog Wacha.. Yep, he’s named after Cards pitcher Michael Wacha.
Cohen grew up in Clayton and he’ll be the grand marshall in Sunday’s Beggin' Pet Parade
kicking off Soulard’s Mardi Gras festivities. Dogs are awesome.. So awesome.. They’re
also used to help the sick and disabled.. As therapy dogs.
According to St. Louis Public Radio.. so are rabbits.
Yep.. Some St. Louis rabbits are working as service and therapy animals.
On Sunday, one will also appear in that pet parade.
Hmmm.. Watch out for those hunting dogs. And.. Three St. Louis doughnut shops land
on New York Magazine’s 101 most amazing list… and who doesn’t love doughnuts?
According to the magazine’s Grub Street blog… Strange Donuts, World's Fair Doughnuts
and the Donut Stop.. Are tops in the country. And… it’s not the first time Strange Donuts
and Donut Stop have received national attention. Check the links below for more on all of these
stories. And… we’re on Facebook, Twitter, Google
Plus and YouTube, and we’d love to connect with you there.
Now, today’s St. Louis meta moment.. A photo posted on Facebook.. By a south St. Louis
mailman.. Nothing like a beware of dog sign.. And an open gate.
His comment makes it even better!
