I'm the head cook, I am not a chef because I've not been trained. and I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm a good guesser.
And I understand this team took 13th at the American Royal? We did we took 13th with this rib recipe,
we also won the 1st annual Labor day all-trades BBQ contest with this same recipe,
so I think we're figuring it out. Well the major reason why we think we'd be
good an BBQ Pitmasters because at Lenexa, one week after Rod Gray and Sherry beat everyone
at the Pitmasters and became the grand champion of that contest, We beat em at Lenexa.
They all have our signature rub on them, and thats what makes them goooood.
So I guess the best way to call it's kind of a Kansas City, Memphis, Carolina mix, best way I can put it.
Now everybody on the team belongs to the union I gather? Yes everyone is a Local 124 member or retiree,
Everybody in our union hall is welcome to come participate with us, so we get a wide
range of flavors and ideas that we get to try out. Everybody has their secret recipe.
I might add, we do NOT buy our meat at Wal-Mart, we try to purchase our cuts of meat from Family
owned mom and pop businesses locally here in Kansas City.
Not just our meat but all of our supplies. We support Costco, we don't go to Wal-Mart.
We actually buy all our meat 100% from McGonigles Family Market.
What's our secret wood?
Our secret wood is a mix of Pecan and, we've got pear today. Normally we do apple but we're going to try pear.
I think we've got a pretty good shot...
