The California Employment Development Department recently implemented a new
electronic claim filing system for State Disability Insurance or SDI making it
faster and easier for you, the employer, to submit the required paperwork
on such claims.
When you receive a notice that one of your employees filed for DI or
Paid Family Leave benefits, you are legally required to submit a response to the
EDD within two days.
Now the new SDI on-line system can help you do that.

SDI online is simple to use and available 24 hours a day.
The new system offers secure transmission of information,
reduces paperwork,
and within minutes you will have electronic confirmation
of your submission.
Also SDI online employer accounts received automatic electronic
notification that your employee has filed a DI or PFL claim
again, making it easier for you to respond as required.
You can create an account at no cost in less than 10 minutes. To begin using SDI
online, simply answer a few questions about your business including
information about your most recent wage report
also as of March 1, 2013 the EDD has updated existing forms
for the new SDI online system.
Employers are responsible for providing the most current forms
for their employees.
You can order those new forms through the EDD's website
it may take 2 to 4 weeks for delivery.
