Welcome to "Adversity University
Gratitude Post" of the week!!
Thank you for coming by.
Today is the day
that I share
my gratitude
about the things that have happened this week.
I have much to be grateful for.
As you know,
I'm a very strong believer in the power of gratitude.
By the way,
if you are seeing this video on YouTube,
I just want you to know
that you can see the subtitled version
of this video
by going to my blog
There's a link
at the sidebar
if you're interested.
Just wanted to let you know.
Many things happened this week
that I'm so thankful for. One of them
was the fact
one guest article that I wrote
appeared
in "Problogger.net"
I wish to thank Darren of Problogger for taking my article
which was about "The Value of Subtitling."
He posted it to his blog the other day.
It had a great response!
My hope
is that the article
will tell
and inform
and encourage people
that subtitling
is avaiable,
free of charge
and is very easy
and
it will help make videos more accessible.
For everybody - not just the deaf but
also
aging baby boomers
or people whose native
language is not English.
They can't speak English but they can read it.
It benefits many people!
Thank you Darren for allowing that to happen - I'm so grateful.
The next person I want to thank
is a guy named Lyman Reed.
Lyman is a blogger at "Creating a Better Life."
When I first did a
video for
a contest last week
which, by the way, I'm going to tell you a little more in a moment,
but when I first posted that video on YouTube,
Lyman
was the first blogger
to put it on his blog
to help me promote it.
It was a total shock,
I did not expect it!!
I wanted to thank Lyman for doing that - thank you!
It really made my day!
The next thing I'm thankful for
is the fact that I got an opportunity
to do a video contest which I mentioned last week.
The contest
was in relation to a website called "Be the Next
Bestselling Author dot com."
They had three categories:
"The Most Views"
"The Best
Funniest Video"
and "The Most Life Changing." I entered "The Most Life Changing Moment"
category.
The contest was over as of Wednesday, two days ago.
In one week,
the number of views went from 0 to 2,600
and climbing.
I could not have done that without the help of the army of people
in my network
that I went to
asked for help.
If anything,
I learned that
if you ask for help
people who like you,
who want to help you
will come forward!
It's not always easy to ask for help
but when you do it,
it's amazing what could happen.
I've never had that many viewers before
so I thought it was pretty cool.
Now, out of a 100 videos,
for that contest,
I came in 4th
in terms of the "Most Viewed"
but DON'T WORRY!
The video judges are getting together today
and they're going to select
one winner from the other two categories
so it's completely out of my hands.
I've turned it over to God.
And that's it!
There's nothing more I can do.
But I want to thank EVERYBODY
for helping me promote that video.
Whatever happens, happens.
The last thing I'm grateful for
is the fact that I
finally
have a professional speaking demo tape
which you can see below this video.
For the first time since I started speaking
professionally,
I finally have a "demo tape"
thanks to a guy named Terry Bartlett
from Akron, Ohio.
Terry
put his heart, mind, body and spirit
into the making of this demo tape.
I'm thankful to him for it
because he truly cared.
It wasn't just about the money.
He took his time
and took all those tapes I gave him
and he made a ten minute demo tape.
Hard work!!
But I thought it came out great - I hope you think so too.
And if you have a few minutes - ten minutes
of your time,
to see this, please do so
and then share it with other people.
Thank you Terry for doing that for me.
God bless you!
I have said everything
from this week.
Ah - one more thing!
I am not the most
professional video guy
so my aim is not to produce
professional tapes at the moment
however
I'm interested in getting better.
For example,
I still don't know how to edit my videos
so I'm going to be coming closer to the video camera
to turn it off
that's what you're going to see
because i don't know how to edit....yet.
I am actually thinking of getting a better camcorder
because eventually I will be submitting videos
to professional
motivational sites
where they have videos
about overcoming adversity,
about cold calling,
about becoming a good salesperson, etc.
They want
professional videos
so in order for me to do that i'm going to have to upgrade.
But for now,
I ask you
to forgive me
because I'm going to turn this camera off
like this
and now I ask you to forgive me
for doing this.
Have a great week!
