Hey it's Chris from chrisbeatcancer.com and
Today's video is a really really special one because it's been 10 years to the day
that I had surgery for stage 3 colon cancer
December 2013 is my ten year cancerversary month
and what's amazing is is that recently
I found this video footage of me in the hospital from surgery
and I had forgotten it even existed
I don't even remember taping it
but apparently I did. So here's the back story...
For Christmas in December 2003, which was like a week before my surgery,
I think it was my dad, I am actually not even sure,
but somebody gave me this little digital video camera.
These were pretty rare in 2003
Nobody had camera phones back then.
This was a unique little thing, it's like a 1.3 megapixel
called the Aptek Pocket DV
I got it for Christmas and I thought
I'll take it to the hospital with me and videotape myself.
Directly after surgery they took me into the recovery area
and I turned the camera on and recorded myself
straight out of surgery, but I was so doped up
that I couldn't even speak. So what you're gonna see
is my wife Micah,
who's trying to talk to me and they're talking to me and I guess they put some kind
of chapstick on my lips and they're like
"Do you like the lip stuff?" or whatever
and then her mom Lynn Sutherland is with her as well
So they're trying to talk to me but I'm so doped up all I can do is like moan and groan
After the clip I'll be back to explain it. come back in
Okay well that's it. That's all I've got.
One whole minute of video footage from
being in the hospital in 2003 after cancer surgery.
I don't have any photos or anything else but hopefully that'll serve as
proof that it actually happened,
that I really did have surgery and I'm not making all of this up.
It's amazing to look back at myself
I look so different, I look so sickly.
I'm often approached by people who think that I'm in my mid 20's.
Almost like as if I haven't aged in 10 years
The credit for that goes to the diet: Overdosing on fruits and vegetables.
Putting that stuff in your body gives your body what it needs to repair, regenerate and detoxify.
And fight the aging process, or slow it down.
I credit that's why I look so young at 36. I still look like I'm about 26
I look better than I did at 26
I forgot to mention this in the first part but I didn't know that video existed
I just found this video camera and was like "I wonder what's on here?"
and watching it I was like "Whoah!" I forgot I had taped it
because I was so doped up when I did it.
I couldn't even say "yes" to my mother in law, I could say was "Ugh"
All I can say is "thank you God". I'm so thankful to still be here after 10 years
Looking back on it, it's really amazing...
I prayed for another way besides chemotherapy
and He gave me nutrition and natural therapies
He led me in the path of healing. I asked for it, and that's what I got.
It took me down a very different road that was difficult at times because I was alone.
But God was with me. I knew it. He always confirmed that He was with me.
He would remind me along the way that I was doing the right thing.
I would get these conformations along the way that would encourage me
And here I am ten years later, spreading the message of nutrition and natural therapies
And that the body can heal, if you give it the proper nutrients and care
It can heal.
