Let's assume a small country, in which, as it seems,
cheap cheating and lack of restraint dominate everywhere, ego's vile needs occupy everybody's mind,
the law of the jungle rules.
Let's assume an outlaw vigilante,
who appears all of a sudden in this small country
and punishes some of those who mainly give the bad example
-corrupted deputies, mischievous journalists-
in the most terroristic way!
Let's assume that this outlaw vigilante takes good care to
add in his terroristic declarations the element of humour
- not the most subtle we're afraid,
but on the contrary, the most grotesque and vulgar.
Let's assume that this vulgar outlaw vigilante is so resourceful
when planning his terroristic declarations
- and so efficient when realizing them -
that the Police, in order to unmask him, can only wait...
for a fatal mistake of him
A man has to have an everyday life
full of misery, dullness and a bitter strife
he lives like a humble servant
of villains and thugs and crooks
Intimidating orders shall he follow
any kind of insults must he swallow
But!
There comes a time when man rebels himself
secretly he seeks to find his mental health...
PUT...
A...
BOMB
in the home of the vile obscurantists
One way to do it:
like the common terrorists!
Plan your statement with regard to the bad taste recipe,
yet show no ìmercyî to any ruler low and mean
You make sure to punish whom so deserves
without turning noble yourself!
One thing always keep in head:
for your hubris youíll be punished as well...
So set your traps and play your games,
choose your victims carefully
But do remember to be as vulgar as can be!
Set a fire in the lair of demagogue activists
One way to do it: like the common arsonists
Plan your statement with regard to the bad taste recipe
Yet show no mercy to a pedagogue low and mean
You make sure to punish whom so deserves
without turning noble yourself
One thing always keep in head:
for your hubris youíll be punished as well
So set your traps and play your games,
choose your victims carefully
But do remember to be as vulgar as can be !
Don't throw your poeme to the garbage!
Don't throw your poeme to the garbage!
Academic voices shouting in my mind
they brag they guide to the secret of creation
oh how stupid when I trust them like a blind
I walk the path of unfruitful imitation
Of course I then surprise them walking fast in reverse
It seems I get a special kick when seeing them in offense
Donít throw your poem into the garbage
itís so cute what you just created, dammit!
thereís someone who doesnít like it at all!
Who?
Well... Him!
You are full of a chimeric love
you know at least that there are some academic rules!
Thereís someone who doesnít seem to care!
You?
Me!
How can you create un great poem of love
if you do not yearn to titillate your true lover?
I will demonstrate that this is the only way
if you do not want to drive away this worthy chap!
Of course, of course I have to find him first...
I know, I know an easy task it's not
Will precious Luck be on my side?
Will she reward my noble fight?
If not, Iíll be contented a spectateur to be
Iíll keep having my kicks when they will shout to me:
Your alter ego do not search, narcissist
he will not help you to become a great artist
Some will never find him...
Us?
You!
Your alter ego do not search, narcissist
he will not help you to become a great artist
Some will never find him...
Us?
You!
(She throws her academic work into the garbage bin).
Oh she's just a painter...
And she's beautiful too!
Disdain will be utterly punished
if shown for a man with good goals
by Nemesis who sees and judges
Oh! what a thing to ignore
Of Nemesis Iím well aware now
and I know she does a good job,
but listen, arenít you presumptuous
distracting someone from her noble cause?
I feel thereís a misunderstanding
inside such a beautiful head
but Iím not sent here to distract you,
so let me-inspire you instead!
A man kindly sent by divine Luck
could always inspire my soul
but someone sent by Momus as a joke
can try his luck with other girls,
well-cloaked!
Oh what a serene, tranquil night, but
by Jove I think I hear a sound
a heart that has begun to pound
not here but somewhere around
How nice to imagine so wildly
but thereís measure for everything
Or else we do begin to hear things
and dream of things way up above our height.
(He's reluctant to go to his mission...)
A luscious dilemma conquers me
and it is completely new
itís since Iíve known this uncastrated
*** CAT!
œh yes she could give grace to the most unattractive warrior in the world
The more she implies itís me at last
the first one who truly inspires her towards her noble occupation
the more Iím invaded by this deadly thought
to come into her *** and surrender
When I canít concentrate at nothing else no more
I try to recur to some pleasant logical sequence
and this is how I manage
to conquer my Peace
ñ for a while...
Will I tell her my secret?
Oh how nice if I wonít
yet I feel oh so tempted
Oh how nice, oh how nice if I would
Would I scare her forever?
Oh how bad she wants that!
But then sheís so unripe
Iím afraid sheíll just quit
oh how bad, oh how bad if she will
So I must hold my Peace
Why should I harm poor her and me?
It sure is a crime to be unattractive after all...
Here you are?
Eh... Hi...
Almost done!
And this (the suitcase)?
Nothing... nothing... I have to go... Bye...
Ok...
(Completed)!!
Very nice.
SORRIERE DELLA CERA:
HE DIDN'T PUNISH WHOM SO DESERVED!
Vigilante's initial target, Deputy Thiefthug, sound and safe.
Civilian victim instead. What do "Noble" Vigilante admirers say
about their "brave warrior" now?
Here am I
living with a stranger
I only met a few days ago
Mum and dad and friends
think I got crazy
¡ stranger, yes but oh how well I know him!
They canít stop being worried
now what will happen to poor old me?
Canít wait to show them my new lover
Theyíll pull a face, theyíll not embrace someone
unlike the one they have in mind
He isnít rich or famous
handsome surely not
an ordinary life he has
well connected he is not!
Canít wait to test my brand new lover
Heíll feel unease, heíll be displeased with whom
wont venerate his precious mind
Though he is so angelic
Though heís so up front
a secret you might think he hides
Who could now inspire me more?
Canít wait to see how my new lover
with his appeal, with his esprit
will win them over too!
Who could now inspire me more?
Canít wait to see how my new lover
with his appeal, with his esprit
will win them over too!
Welcome! Monsieur Lombard!
My poem!
What's that!!!????
Don't you like it?
Meet my new lover!!
(So... these paintings belong to the garbage!)
(How do you dare?)
ART NEWS:
MISS DOMIGO: BIRTH OF A GREAT STAR!
(Vigilante's favourite soccer team is having a match
and his friends invite him to go together to the stadium
as every Sunday!)
Big deal!!
Hey you noble friend of ours
vigilantly listen now!
Once you were brave and alert and charmant and mysterious
oh! how we long for thÔse days
But now youíre shy and naif and passif and monotonous
pick yourself up and find your ways!
Hey you sweetest lovesick friend
passion makes you lose your head!
You better be careful and concentrate dear
wake up before itís late
weíre feeling a lot of fear here
to warn you how we hate...
but love always hurts and deceives and betrays you in the end
to your view I don't resign
when she loves you not!
Hey you noble friends of mine
At last Iím full and assured and serene and magnanimous
how could I live in those days
when I was vain and unsafe and upset and presumptuous
picked myself up and found my ways
Hey you dearest friends revive
logic turns you blind in life
You better stop envying and being afraid of
finding your proper muse
sheíll help you repent and find love
and then you will deduce that
love never hurts nor deceives nor betrays you in the end
- AND SHE LOVES ME, YES!!
How is it sad
the clouds of illusion disappear once again
heís not the one I thought he was at first
the balance of love gets quickly lost
How is it cruel
a womanís untamed heart
cannot easily hide
her deep contempt towards a strengthless mate
how little compassion she can show
His flirt
doesnít intrigue me now
His kiss
has lost its wit somehow
Oh! How Iíd wish
that he was the one to conquer my testing heart
Iíd really like he could be up to it
but I think he canít and never will
His flirt doesnít intrigue me now
His kiss has lost its wit somehow
Oh! How Iíd wish
that he was the one to conquer my testing heart
Iíd really like he could be up to it
but I think he canít and never will...
What are you reading?
(He throws the other glove to the floor).
(He takes the canvass from the garbage bin in order to comfort himself).
Brokenhearted and frail
I return to my nest
to heal all my wounds
that were caused by my foolish head.
Victim of a passing love
I forgot my real fight.
Maybe I donít care much
I remember once more
empty days from the past
when passive was I
and I drifted aimless and lost.
I cannot return to that!
Are my motifs really strong?
Are they sincere at least?
Iíll get back on my feet,
find the spirit of fight
and my lost faith
though it now seems
this was not built on strong grounds
…t will take time to reconstruct
life is short, way too short
to be wasted with habits vile and cheap
I must hate everyone who will
stand in between
me and my goals
and that includes
all these not worthy knowing
my precious secret and true face
I will hate, then ignore
even the one face I have most adored.
(The other glove!)
The first impression never betrays
my heart began to pound as then
his real gifts I can now appraise
things seem to be functioning again
How foolish how childish of him
to hide from me his big atouts
now heís all enraged and grim
but for his heart Iíll find a passe-partout...
Now what a pity what a shame
when one conceals his true face
from the one who could appreciate it most!
In life we always fight alone
but then we share impressions of the battle
with the most intimate friend we have
- didnít you know?...
Let me inspire you towards your noble occupation
somehow you lost all your flair, your thrill and your determination
How can I move you? My dear canít you see?
that youíre able to inspire me too
like no one ever did or will achieve
One magic world undiscovered is waiting for us to explore
Just you start to think about the things we could teach to each other, so
Let yourself need me
and then youíll know you truly love me
Itís all about one thing
to need each other most
I need you, so could you need me too?
Tonight it was shown to you that the more decadent a society may be,
the more it is possible to give birth to a brilliant vigilante!
Tonight it was shown to you that the only way for a brilliant vigilante to inspire his people
is by adding to his terroristic declarations the element of subtle humour.
Tonight it was shown to you that the only way for a brilliant vigilante to add
to his terroristic declarations the element of subtle humour, is by being in love!
Tonight it was shown to you that the more a brilliant vigilante is in love
- but not desperately! -
the more it will be impossible for the Police to unmask him one day!
Put a bomb in the home of the vile obscurantists
But please donít do it like the common terrorists
Plan your statement with regard to the good taste recipe
Yet show no mercy to any ruler who is mean
Still make sure to punish whom so deserves
without turning vulgar yourself
One thing always keep in head:
for your hubris youíll be punished as well
So mind your traps and play your games,
choose your victims carefully
But do remember
to be as noble as can be !
In the last scene of the revised version that will soon take place,
the vigilante will sing this song alone, while
Lilly Domingo will sing to De Lombard that she will not throw her poem into the garbage
and the friends of the vigilante will praise him for going together with them to the stadium
and that love never betrays, if she loves you too!
(Panos Gerakakis, Antonis Adamopoulos)
