i want to read a poem for you from my book it's called Luxuries of Grace
i wrote a poem called "White Rose of Friendship"
Call her the white rose of friendship
But she is better known as eternity
Nowhere else but on this thorny branch
Could such a gentle scent linger so close to the edge of fear
As the universe unfolds Following its own transcendent logic
She mirrors every earthbound dream
petal for petal
Reminiscent of intimate friends
Grown, wed and enthralled by all the portals
Through which she intends to pass On her matrimonial journey
With the son of the celestial gardener
She is surrounded by flowers
in a rural bouquet
Collected
just as another rain
prepares for its hour of duty
Her colours are defined in the trade as yellow, pink and white
Yet each is a separate galaxy
Putting forth its hard earned hue With honour, compassion and finesse
The ears of the roses wiggle
Like a hundred loony puppies
at the promise of a smile
Wild petals whose landlord is too often forgotten Liberate their joy beneath the provincial sun
As friends gather to spread
the nutritious endowment of love
Across the gardens of earth
