Woo, the MCM expo was pretty cool, I made a point of making sure that I was attending
things I wanted to attend and not just do what I did last time which was just wander
around aimlessly although at these sort of events it is still fun to wander aimlessly
at these sort of events as there is always wacky stuff going on all the time but this
time I didn't want to do that.
So the solution to this was to actually get a timetable and actually know what events
were going to happen and then just plan the day around that and events I wanted to go
to. And surprising for someone that adores video games such as myself, I actually didn't
play that many games there. Nothing to do with the lack of decent games or anything
like that as I still managed to play the soon to be released Deadpool game but it was then
when I playing it, I was like...yeah I can't be bothered with this. I mean I queued up
for about 20 minutes just to get a five minute playthrough on it and even then I still didn't
use the whole 5 minutes because I had lost the desire to play and I was thrust in the
middle of someone else's playthrough meaning I had little to no clue as to what to do,
what the buttons were, where was I going, so I just had to "enjoy" the whole....
Whatever! I was just not going to spend my time figuring out what to do and by the time
I get into the swing of things, time's up, I have to go so I was just like "yeah".
The best way I can put it is imagine you're queuing up to see a trailer of an upcoming
film like...I don't know, I'm going to use Man of Steel as an example as that's the latest
superhero film that's coming out. This place is going to preview the first 20 minutes of
the film in order for you to get excited and you to see what the film is going to be about
and just to whet your appetite really, so you queue up for about an hour or whatever
it is and by the time you get there when it's your turn, you find that it's already 12 minutes
all the way, there's 8 minutes left, you don't have a clue what's going on and it's not really
that good, I mean......you're still trying to work out what's going on and you're like
what's the point in me staying here you may as well just go, it's not as if you're undecided
on whether you want to watch the film or not you already know that you're going to watch
it anyway so yeah you just spent a whole hour queuing up and you didn't even watch the film
but whatever, that's what happened to me except I only took 20 minutes...not that that's much
better but whatever.
Um yeah where was I? Anyway where was I? Ummm oh yeah so when that happened I was like yeah
I'm not doing this queuing thing especially if I'm by myself, If 'm with someone else
like if I'm going to Eurogamer and there's someone else with me, I can talk to them in
the queue and it's a lot more fun and I'm only going to this for games that I really
really really really want to play.
I still managed to play a fair few games, like I played Game and Wario on the Wii-U
and I have to say that I'm liking the Wii-U a lot more and more in comparison to the PS4
and the Xbox One big bag of crap...I'm hilarious aren't I.
Bad jokes aside I briefly played a demo of the 3DS game Project X Zone but the demo was
so limited in what it could do so I just gave up and just moved on. Besides, it's got a
whole bunch of Tekken characters, it's an RPG I'm going to get it anyway, so I don't
need to play any demos or anything like that. I feel demoes are really for people that are
huge... well I wouldn't say huge huge fans but people that are undecided on a game are
that they are so looking forward to it that they just want to get a bit of it. But me
I'm going to get some of these games anyway so there's no point in me playing the demo
So yeah that was the only three games I played in the course of the 3 days. Game and Wario,
Deadpool and Project X, that was it. There may have been something else I can't remember
So what did I do? There were a bunch of other stuff to do as well and I spent my time going
to various things like I went to this Beginners class on how to draw manga characters which
was cool but when I went there it focused more on learning how to colour in characters
that were already drawn so while it was interesting it really didn't help me whatsoever not that
I'm an aspiring artist or anything like that but it's still nice to know how to draw manga
and just that sort of stuff
There were a bunch of other events going on at the game stage such as game presentations
and Q&A for The Last Of Us which is an upcoming PS3 game...it's a ps3 exclusive by Naughty
Dog, you know, the ones same ones who made Uncharted: Drakes Fortune...which I've got
to play that at some point...I will get round to you...woo...Ohh and they also made Crash
Bandicoot which is the most awesome game ever. The game itself is looking gorgeous and they
played a bit of the first... 'level' I guess, for want of a better word and while I don't
think anything new was shown, it is looking more and more awesome whenever I see it. This
is one PS3 game that I'm buying at release, my first actually, yeah and I will actually
play it, I won't just buy and keep it in its nice shiny wrapper, I will actually play it
I also saw Lego Marvel Super Heroes which they played the first level of and to be honest
with you there's not really much to be said about it asides that it looks alright and
I'd buy it and see how it goes from there I mean, they kind of messed up the audio so
no=one could really get a good understanding of what was going on in the game so we were
watching this developer play it.
I also did a whole bunch of other stuff like I went to this question and answer panel on
the web comic Homestuck where people would answer questions about anything and they'd
actually answer it in character. I'm still in the early days or reading the comic so
a fair few of their jokes dis actually go whoosh over my head but regardless it was
still a positive and fun, atmospheric vibe and the only criticism of it, I could really
say and something that I tend to notice in a lot of the presentations were how people
don't speak into the microphones properly. It's like 'hello, the microphone is designed
to amplify your voice and allow the people in the back to hear what it is that you are
saying' but if you constantly swinging the microphone about what you get is an effect
where you are suddenly loud occasionally but for the most part you are only audible to
yourself or at most, the people sitting in the second row. So unless you're Brian Blessed...USE
THE FRICKING MICROPHONE! For me it kinda ruined some of the presentations and the Homestuck
panel because some people weren't speaking into it so nobody could understand what they
were saying.
I also went to this How to make a Webseries/30 minute film school thing where while it was
more for film buffs and people that were interested in that sort of thing, I still found it interesting
because hey, someone was actually speaking into the microphone, yeah so that was all
pretty interesting
Also Weebl...Mr Weebl was there, he gave a very interesting talk on all sorts and we
got to preview his latest videos on his channel and I walked into his presentation because
I was actually planning on seeing it anyway but I guess I was like 5 minutes late, so
I walked into his presentation and I was like ahh this is the same guy that did Badger,
Badger, Badger and Amazing Horse, I did not actually notice that, that is pretty cool.
Finally I also went to a Merlin panel which had the guy who played Percival in it, I forget
his name, I think it's Tom something I don't know I don't really about the actors I care
more about the characters so yeah... and Modred was also there again I don't know the actor's
name. Gawaine was supposed to be there but he bailed out so it was just the two of them,
Percival and Mordred answering questions and it was good because it wasn't like they were
bored or they were just going through the motions, they were actually entertaining,
answering questions as best as they could and just being electric. There was a moment
where Percival was asked if you could sleep with any of the guys on set who would it be
and his response was like "wow umm, okaay...strange thing about that question is you sound really
young, how old are you?"
And then all you hear is..."9"....yeah
The whole room just burst into laughter at that moment and umm it was really hilarious
just seeing the reaction on their faces and just saying " Oh I love how the mother thought
that was a good question to ask and was just like "yeah go ahead, just then ask him that""
Really good fun
Anyway the weekend was a great one and while I'm hoping to go in October it will depend
on a lot of things like who I'm going with and what events are actually going to happen
in there and just a whole bunch of other stuff but we'll see.
I also got myself a fair few goodies as so my trip there wasn't wasted and I'm especially
looking forward to getting through this which is Persona 4 Arena, yeah Persona 4 Arena.
Also got this, I got a whole bunch of other goodies leaflets, that sort of stuff, some
of them aren't even useful, some are just vouchers and just bleh, what is this, all
sorts of stuff, more leaflets, actual guide, BlazBlue the game which I've...no I haven't
actually. Uhh yeah got the God of War Collection. Got myself a new oyster card holder, got myself
a comic of Superman, more...uhh...Shakespeare 'As you like it' because I've never actually
read the Shakespeare play so this is actually written in...drawn in manga form so this might
be interesting I don't know I just got it, got myself portraits taken, all sorts of stuff,
more portraits taken. I got a sword because it's dangerous to go alone so take this...yes
that's what it actually says. I actually got myself this free t-shirt which you got for
preordering the game, I cancelled it anyway because...free t-shirt. Also got this t-shirt
which you might not be able to see but that is actually Goku or as I like to call him,
Kakarot because that's his actual name, I like to call people by their actual names.
Umm Fairy Tail t-shirt and of course, the new 52...uhh I have the feeling that I've
got something else as well
Anyway that's all I have to say about the MCM expo for now so until next time, uhhh
yeah King Lawliet out.
