so we recently passed the fiftieth anniversary of President Johnson
announcing a war on poverty and %uh Fox News and the republicans are
commemorating at
I don't think they necessarily understand what the point of the war was
because they
rather than fighting for policies that would help the poor have decided to
single out each day on Fox different segments of the poor population and
attacked them
but today we have john stossel who wants to single out
single mothers watch they talk women better I have a
man in your house because you'll get more money if there's no guy there and
so people adjust their behavior
and now they want more hand out what didn't work the handouts
they want to do more of and my point is that
gonna get income inequality when people are free some people will do much better
than others
and that's okay because under that system the poor
do better to while john stossel's very good at identifying the back at the
bottom
and going right I he's really good and really knows who's got it coming
you note the people without a pot to *** in there you gotta keep your eye
and know that I was there
because they're stealing online spending it quickly yeah and if they don't
remember the more money they just go buy one of those pot
that I it with the chicken yeah
but but but but it's also also mentions talk about how the poor
do so much better under what he envisions as
as good economic policy the poor do not do better under the hood the port never
for rarely do better unless they're recognized and given a helping hand
yen and as a people as a and
a nation if it's a poor nation it's the same day
so it's just a is turning a blind eye to end this is point that the poor
in the United States do better than the poor in sub-saharan Africa
therefore our system rocks right had appeared to be what he say
they do better because we don't have disease here right get you know that
about the only wherever they live from
yeah has big any also things by the way they're doing just fine
let take away all their benefits presumably they might not do quite as
well once those are taken away but thats
so is there anything you would like who as a human being
you know I get there anything worse than being a millionaire sitting in a
billion-dollar studio
telling everybody that the poor have a really good is there anything worth as a
human being that you could do nothing to rate your own daughter
for john stossel just one notch above a guy rapes his own daughter
I got that's a Johnson heat that he cannot stop
telling people that poor people are scammers and that they got really good
a bear in mind this is the guy goes out on the street when I i'm ok I'll a
homeless man to show how good the homeless at but you can bet that
if you beg every day for eight hours a day in new york city you'll make twenty
three thousand dollars a year
packed worry that's what john stossel says hey could you know who needs the
tax savings
the homeless I I'm screwed at tax time
yeah so this is Jon Sopel and he is one notch above
guy rapes his own daughter you know it's like income inequality has grown in this
country is always been a problem because the kids are born into poverty they're
born into deep poverty and their kids are born into deep poverty
anyone who spent 10 minutes and any
public school in any neighborhood that is dealing with
significant abject poverty like that knows the education system is horrible
and there's absolutely no way out and his idea is the reason that we had this
growing income inequality is that we've tried yet to help get the most
vulnerable the FB
it's not that we're giving $85 billion dollars a month to wall street and
asking them to help fix our economy
right that's not welfare when you say hey you guys can make whatever risky bet
you can turn investment banking at the casino hopping you can spend your lunch
hours at strip clubs and bookings
no problem we're gonna give you all the money in the world it's the Hotham
single mothers who have been but know what was wrong with Detroit's
it's filled with a bunch of Sarah Palin daughters that's what you talkin problem
itself
*** mothers rights Bristol Palin's book and everything up that's that's
what john stossel saying that a problem
well anything done it's not just that it seems immoral
to say that they're the big problem it's also completely inaccurate to say that
now
yesterday we showed you on the first are the young turks how louie Gohmert saying
that women are intentionally having more children out of wedlock
to get welfare checks we showed you that there's scientific study showing that
that's not true
now done so it's not true yet they repeated yes they keep it
I did you know that the research I've decided maybe it's a sign
let us study too they are you got them on that that probably want to there's no
those liberal science book what we've got more numbers actually specifically
about what he's talking about bench that burned like an idiot the numbers but
anyhow
this discussion reporter I mean this guy for a while was
respected amongst archaeological smaller local news reporter you're not going to
get it was nationally
yeah Nena BC we have a friend who worked with him we didn't hate him at the time
yeah um other that friend I
and but like I mean to be able to take his injured
it was I that did take
these anecdotal stories because they exist
I'm sure that you can find 478 mothers in this country
who had another kid because they thought they get more money out at the
26 million mothers who got benefits from that
and this guy gets on TV in everybody just thinks it's it's always get not
and yeah the Walmart to these exceptions you know it
that's what that it was the same thing with voter ID yes there were some
exceptions there were people who yeah we're fraudulent voters here we felt
like with 33 cases and I'm a little upset you happen to lead
then they get on the same thing with my bedside light yet would you have snapple
you have to understand
and here's one guarantee one guarantee people will use them
I'm but here's another reacted it going to make life better
yes all many people and Holland that people who get it
tolerable for people and and the other for you ok with LBJ John
there's nobody in part as those fifty years ago than rfk ironically in
response tell BJ comes out with his
war on poverty in his tour above them poppers parts above the country in the
Mississippi Delta
then there's another and then there was John Edward I rather oddly
ironically John Edwards who had this conversation about to america is in in a
quality
and that was the tragedy in John Edwards that he *** everything up
up because he had a really good message and not that he was ever gonna be
president there was a lot wrong with them and gave everybody the creeps
when I was a running mate prepared at different times but the point is
now it's not part about the political conversation from the top
and this president I think I just those two years left but it should be a bit
you know
a big part of the yes and most presidents get most the *** done last
year's here
break a leg has been hurting 33 years like through it I
I want to swim I would love to say to john stossel and other these guys who
tried it
say that the war against poverty was a big failure so when they
so medicare's part of that war on poverty somatic here by the way before
medicare
30 percent up senior citizens live in poverty
I'll ten years after the institution of medicare
that number had dropped to 11 percent a star astonishing success
to estar no one talks that medicare's part in the war on poverty
know we talked about having it's not that we're going at 11 Iron Man Israel
but
yeah hand and also I wonder P we had a great 280 live comment yesterday and
that they love to say that
these women the the single person women are choosing to have an additional child
to get a check
like that's exactly the life choice that lazy woman who doesn't want to work we
do have another child
does that work to raise a child doesn't know you doing okay right
the picture day yet yeah yet so act like a girl
but so john stossel talks about the women they just want these checks like
they're they're choosing to stay single do not getting married to government
checks they're having the children
well let's labeling can do nothing about the *** but yeah that's a good one
anyway but did you know how much they are
the average welfare check or the I don't have the number and for me when I do the
distribution and so he would like to pretend
that these checks just go out there and then got who knows who they go to
but we do actually know who they go to so we've got some data coming from the
washington post
the that checks it is talking about 53 percent go to people over 65 years old
20 percent go to disabled people 18 percent to working people
leaving just nine percent for non-disabled non working people the sort
of person that john stossel
went on Fox News to denigrate so even if a little bit
is happening its an inconsequential the small percentage other
so he knows those numbers by the way just got home knows those numbers he's a
reporter he reporting on this story
pressure he bumped into those numbers I feel you that's about five minutes
everything exactly are you mentioned I'm thinking of a friend of mine in Atlanta
well like a lot him as a friend of mine
very bright very conservative perfect start with drought-like yet
I'll hiya at and like I know that if we were in this argument
as soon as I said what you said they're like you know but we do have some steps
the Washington Post they'd like
the Washington they could do it just didn't get automatic and I don't know
maybe john stossel that to really glad I did that
yep that's irreparable we had a lot of times that Arnold in a hotel
the the people when people have a knee-jerk reaction to the source
okay but but but they think they have a knee-jerk reaction to science
no yeah to the numbers at all what I'm saying that their debut jerk reactions
to everything
yet but even if the when I do too I mean I have a knee-jerk reaction by your
something
you know an editorial in the Wall Street Journal today I couldn't let it and
realized that I know that the Senate but I hear
a here the wall street journal Nature at that although what was the general
doesn't have good reporters yes but it was a back printed in the Wall Street
Journal and someone said look at this fact that the out your ideas you go let
me look at back to help check it out and if it does I'll change my opinion
that's what grownups area and so that's the problem I think with our lecter are
with our porch ideology
right now to I don't you like I don't think that we're not not in which that
is %uh it's too late because
what what really happened what will happen is that is the gatekeepers and
and the board the state right Dame completely decided to go both sides
like we're gonna just play even so these guys say that science is real
and these guys saying is that we're gonna pretend like both sides are equal
so
that's been happening in our and that's what's wrong with I think our politics
right now there is no watchdog anymore
they bought the watchdog the watchdog no longer says those guys are crazy
and more *** and we don't know what a fact is any more changes
is big is getting to a point where we ignore those people because they're not
happy it's not that big
it's not it but it's not up usted northwards up to the what we
now consider the reasonable people within their circle right now but it's
up to them
but it's up to what Jimmy said it's up to the the the press the ports developed
at the state for the state the board's discretion
yes that we're sure absolutely informative show a further
for the state whose the pic this day the biggest issues
that was the last night it was the Jews I got a better
iraq yeah I think well the Wikipedia that so it's up to
I don't know that the state sale this weekend I
recognition that we don't need to respond in Pike you look i get it you
can't ignore the fact the republican majority house representatives and that
you know we have like conversations that we really like pretend that that's not a
thing that we have this
but WEA but well act like that a reasonable point that it's ok because I
really think things are way better because the
conversations that we have about possible want we have every day
we have all the time what people now know what that phrase means
up battered by years ago no one that was not afraid that anyone other than now
every time it happens at least online but I would preside over a little bit
tired but
but it's good like Gandhi they succeeded because from nineteen
79 until 2008 just yeah old gelding you'll never stop will
an hour some that some pushed back so that's just an answer to what do we do
about
yeah look I think in a perfect world kids would be raised and educated to be
critical thinkers another that they can look at the information look at the
source and
do additional research and find out for themselves I think that
a good first step towards that is to at least when you hear an assertion
think is there information that would have some bearing on that and so that's
why I know this probably starting to annoy you
that every time we talk about something II bring up some research that I found
on it
but I want to drill into are already smarter let audience
that when you hear something like women have kids on purpose to get checks
or single mothers get all the welfare is there information
that would support or /url are I reject that assertion
and they're almost always is and so that's why I liked I like that stuff
