How To Store Men's Dress Shoes - Keeping Dust Off Your Boots - Male Footwear Style Tips
Hi. I’m Antonio Centeno, the founder of Real Men Real Style. And today we’re going
to be talking about how to keep the dust off your dress shoes.
Okay. If you haven’t already, please subscribe to our YouTube channel. By doing that, these
videos will come right to you. In addition, if you like this video, if you find it useful,
I would appreciate it if you would Like it right below. And finally, we’re going to
link you to an article or to – you know, a lot of times, I’m linking people to our
free 47-page e-book which has a lot of great information about Men Style. So if you enjoy
this video, I think you’re going to love the e-book down below.
Okay. Well, this is a question I received from a reader. Actually this was right here
on YouTube and it came from Ross Art Red and he’s saying, okay let’s see. Yes, “Can
you please do a video on how to keep dust off dress shoes? I have a walk-in closet,”
– nice, I don’t have a walk-in closet – “it’s a nice place yet I still get
dust on my dress shoes. It annoys me to no end. So a video on how to avoid this would
be very helpful. If you do request, I would favor it for a long time.”
Okay. I want to hold you totally since you’re going to favor the video. But seriously, it’s
actually, I saw this one, and I am like, “This is a pretty easy one.” Because most shoes,
almost any dress shoe of high-quality, when you buy it, it actually comes with everything
you need to prevent dust from building up on it. But oftentimes, we are just a little
too lazy to actually use this.
And the big thing are these shoe bags. So as you can see, I’ve actually purchased
a number, from Alden right here in New England. They’re custom boot makers, a very nice
shoe bag and you just simply put your shoes in it. And I got some other ones from Joseph
Cheaney. And let’s see who else, and another one from Cheaney. And I know my wife, she
purchases these, these are very lightweight. I think she can even get this at Target. Again,
simply cover your shoe and you’re not going have the dust problem.
Okay. You may not have a bag. So what do you do if you don’t have a bag? Well, use the
actual shoe box. And this is a great way, I think. It also protects your shoes. Because
once you started getting more than a few pairs, all of a sudden, you find that, you know,
they’re all over the place – especially if you got kids, you end up taking your shoes
and doing things with them. And if you’ve got animals you do not want to lose a good
pair of leather shoes to become some type of chew toy for your dog.
So keep your shoes in their shoe box. I mean it’s something that oftentimes, we throw
them away. Don’t do that. Keep them and keep them in there. Whenever you put them
in a shoe box, it’s important though that they are dry. So make sure also put a cedar
shoe tree in there and that will help absorb moisture from the inside.
And whenever you put your shoes away, actually polish them before putting them away. And
actually, if your shoes are polished and even if you’re not covering them, but you’re
at least polishing your shoes, and what you’re going to find is the polished, then it becomes
very, very easy just to wipe off the dust. Because if you got a – you can imagine a
rough surface on the shoe, then of course dust and dirt can eventually build up in there.
And that can actually damage the shoe.
So I hope that answers your question. I thought that was a pretty easy one. So thank you.
And if you’ve enjoyed this, check other articles and I’ll see you in the next video.
Bye-bye.
