Hair forks or prongs, whatever you call them, are a great way to accessorize your bun. You
can put your hair up in a bun and then spear them through, or if you've misplaced your
hair tie you can still use the tool to create a fantastic up do. Here is the hair-tie-less
version in an easy to follow tutorial. Let's get started!
For this hair style you'll need *** pins and your hair fork. A hair fork has two prongs
joined together at one end. First, brush your hair back and away from
your face. Next, gather your hair into a ponytail smoothing
down the top. Start twisting the ponytail clockwise around your fingers, and then pull
the ponytail up and over, but not too tightly. If your hair unravels when you let go just
keep twisting it around your fingers, and make sure the ends are tucked underneath the
bun. Then you're going to need your hair fork!
You're going to be making a threading motion with the fork to secure the bun in place.
Start in the upper right corner. You want to dig the fork into your roots and then come
up through the bun a little. You may need to wiggle a bit to get it in. Then dig down
into your roots picking up some hair and back up through the bun. Keep doing this until
you reach the edge of the bun and then lastly weave the fork under your roots to secure
it in place. This is what the bun looks like at this stage.
But don't worry about those big flyaway chunks. The last stage will deal with those. All you
need are a few *** pins to secure that hair in place. Push them underneath the bun to
hide them. And there you have it! No hair ties needed,
jus the fork and a couple of bobby pins. If I'm in a messy up do frame of mind I don't
even bother with the bobby pins. This look is great for summertime, school, and for more
formal occasions. It may take a bit of practice but you'll get there!
