The first week back for parliament had its ups and downs,
a sign perhaps of what we can expect this year.
Back and forth, male and female,
here's a wrap up of the political week that was.
The election year kicked off with kissing babies.
But if there's not enough lollies to go around, why say there is?
The Prime Minister was quick to point out
how many days Hone Harawira had been missed at work,
but wasn't offering up the attendance records of his own MPs.
Apart from opening toilet paper factories,
John Key has opened up the flag debate again.
Back to the babies, David Cunliffe hoped these cute kids
would help him to correct his mistakes.
And let's not forget Shane Jones
who contacted us to say how annoyed he was at comments made
by the Minister of Finance about the far north lacked inspiration.
Don't insult us by saying our dreams don't matter.
But the female MPs couldn't miss out on a chance for some spotlight,
with Anne Tolley slamming Metiria Turei's expensive clothes.
Metiria says it's a racist remark,
but whatever was meant by the remark,
the gloves are off.
Yes indeed, the election year has begun.
