>>Reporter: Tell us why you came out here today
>>Trumka: Well, it's to show everybody what a progressive nation can look like
And what we can have if all of us stand together, work together to create jobs,
And to create justice, and to create education for everybody.
>>Reporter: Obviously the big story around the election right now has been a lot of talk about the enthusiasm gap
Do you think Democrats will be able to overcome that?
>>Trumka: Absolutely. We're already doing it, look around here
We're out talking to our members, our members know what's happening
They stood with them and they'll be there on election day to help those people that we call economic patriots
An economic patriot is somebody who will help us create jobs
Stop outsourcing, and give us some economic and retirement security.
>>Reporter: And what would you say to voters who feel discouraged
That there hasn't been enough progress yet, that we haven't gone far enough.
>>Trumka: Look, if we don't continue on with what we're doing, we built a foundation
It hasn't been fast enough because we've had a determined Republican opposition to stop everything
However, we built a good foundation. They told you what they'll do if they get elected.
They'll take us back to when the time Wall St and corporate America ruled America
And controlled the agenda. They told you that they'll raise the age of retirement
And social security, they'll but benefits. There will be no more jobs legislation.
There will be no more unemployment extension
We have to keep the progress going that we started
We built a foundation, let's keep it going and create an America that works for everybody.
