\f0\fs24 \cf0 My name is Helen Murray O'Connor and I have just completed a MSc in Coastal
ZOne Management via eLearning. I chose this course because I have a background in geomatics
and one of the core competencies of geomatics is land management and I was looking to expand
that into coastal land management and I found the appropriate course here at the University
of Ulster. The eLearning environment was perfect for my lifestyle, I have a busy job and family
so it was probably the only appropriate method of study for me at this stage in my life.
eLearning has some, many benefits indeed because of it's flexibility, you know you can work
around your lifestyle, work commitments, umh, but it does have disadvantages there is no
point in saying otherwise you need to be very self motivated and driven, but I think the
advantages out weigh the disadvantages. One of the advantages was I didn't have to purchase
computer, specialised software or computer hardware or indeed software to complete the
course. I had no major technical problems with the online learning environment during
the course, minor things can be solved by just getting on to the helpdesk. I felt supported
during the course both by the academic staff and the administrative staff all of whom were
available online. The course more than met my professional and academic needs and broadened
my knowledge base into the geomatics land management and the coastal zone management
areas. I would recommend this MSc in coastal zone management to anyone who was considering
studying in this area.}
