Hi, I'm William Richey. I'm the Executive Manager of the American Eagle Security in
Springfield, Oregon, and I'm going to talk to you about wages that a Security Officer
makes. Most Security Officers make a range between minimum wage and a hire dollar amount
depending on their skills and their certifications. Basic Security Officers can start at minimum
wage, which in the state of Oregon right now is $7.95 an hour. If they have first aid CPR,
AED certification or if they have an arms certification where they can work armed, or
if they have certifications to use pepper spray or handcuffs or batons, it allows them
to work in various job sites, which increases their pay rate. Armed Officers can make upwards
to twenty, twenty-two dollars an hour on some sites, and unarmed Officers on more high profile
sites can make in the ten to twelve dollars an hour range. I would say an average salary
range for a Security Officers in this area is approximately nine dollars an hour.
