Listen.
Can you hear the tweets?
Those are the Twitter tweets--
the birds in the woods.
See the blue on the tree?
And I'm wearing blue.
Today, I'm talking about Twitter and tweets.
Listen in.
In celebration of Twitter's seventh year anniversary, I am
here out in the woods listening to the birds.
It's spring time.
And I want to tell you why you absolutely need to be on
Twitter if you're in business.
Hi, my name is Sue B. Zimmerman.
And I'm going to give you seven reasons why Twitter is
so important for your business.
Number one.
There are 500 million active users on Twitter every day.
And 5,000 to 10,000 people join Twitter.
That's every day.
Get on Twitter.
Number two.
You can learn from your favorite leaders, brands,
authors, bloggers.
You do not have to be tweeting to be on Twitter.
You can just listen to the conversation and learn.
Learn from those you admire and respect.
It's a great source of information to get either on
your handheld or on your computer.
Number three.
Connect with your followers, and start a conversation.
You can have email sent to you when a new follower starts
following you on Twitter.
That's a good opportunity for you to check, see who they
are, look at their bio--
and by the way, this is why you need to have a rocking bio
on Twitter.
And if their bio resonates with you as to who they are
and what they do, and it's someone that you think can add
value to your network and help grow your business, you want
to start following them back.
Also, if you get mentioned in a tweet, you want to check and
communicate back to the person that mentioned you.
You can do this either in a direct message, as long as you
are both following each other, or you can do this as simply
just retweeting the tweet that you were mentioned in.
These are ways that you can grow your network and jump
into a conversation.
Try it.
Number four.
It is a great place for you to do market research.
Follow the hashtags that are relevant to your business.
You can simply just put it in the search bar, search those
words, and see what other people are saying in your
industry, and learn from them.
Number five.
Your ideas can go viral faster on Twitter
than any other platform.
If you are educating, entertaining, and engaging,
your content will go viral.
And other people will retweet it.
And a retweet, by the way, is the biggest compliment you can
get from the content that you were sharing on Twitter.
Number six.
Is your content newsworthy?
Because if it is, a journalist will pick it up and ask you to
contribute to their article or blog.
And this helps add credibility to who you are.
Finally, number seven.
In celebration of Twitter's seventh year anniversary--
woo hoo!--
be authentic.
Be you.
Share content that resonates with you and who you are.
Because when you do, your tweets will get
retweeted and shared.
And then traffic will be driven to your website, which
is where you want people to go, right?
You want to grow your business, and hopefully
convert them to paying clients.
