Hey guys! Today I have a fun DIY for you and it's how to make your own lipsticks - wait
for it - out of crayons. Ok, at first it might seem like a really weird idea, and maybe it
kind of is but I promise - I have a good explanation for this. Crayons are made for children and
they basically can chew on them all they long so they have to make them non toxic, and that's
why they are safe for your lips. They are very pigmented so you can get your lipstick
to be pigmented aswell. And the other main ingredient is the oil - an edible oil, of
course. I use coconut oil because I like the scent of it but you can use whatever you have
at home, like olive oil, argan oil or shea butter, your choice. So, if you want to try
something new and fun to experiment or you need lipstick for that one occasion and you
don't want to go out and buy the lipstick then this is the place for you, keep on watching
to find out how to make them. Things you need are very basic - spoon for
measuring your oil, trays or empty lipstick tubes where to put your finished lipsticks,
a bowl where to mix everything, crayons, then you can also mix in some pigments or cream
makeup, if you want. coconut oil or any other oil and, optional, some disinfector. I'm just
using this to disinfect my trays. And a pot with boiling water.
Take the crayon in color of your choice and with a knife cut off the paper. You can tear
it off with your fingers but - good luck - it takes way too much time. Then I'm taking a
half of teaspoon of coconut oil. This will give me very opaque finish and a lipstick
will be firm. IF you want a sheer lipstick then add more oil - about a teaspoon for 1
crayon. I'm giving you the numbers I used but for different crayons they will probably
be different. Oh, and from 1 crayon you can get about 2 lipsticks. Now put your bown on
the stove to float in a water and wait till it's all melted. You could do this in microwave
but I don't really recommend it. Then carefully take it off, CAREFULLY and
pour into your containers. I just have some old eyeliner trays that I kept for some reason.
Now you can put it in refrigerator or just leave in room temperature for about 10 minutes
and then your lipstick will be done. Now check how it works and you can decide
if you need to change something. Then you can start experimenting with different colors
and different textures. fF you want a matte lipstick, then add less oil but keep in mind
that it will be firmer and not so smooth. If you want your lipstick to be more sheer,
then add more oil. And you can add some glitter for some sparkles. You will get best results
when applying with your finger because the warmth from your finger will actually soften
up the wax and it will go on smoother on your lips. But if you have one of those sheer ones,
then it will be no problem applying with a lip brush aswell.
As you can see, I've made quite a few colors and I actually learnt how to do it best in
a process. The most important thing is you have to find a good balance with crayons and
oil and then it's easy peasy. You can experiment and add some castrol oil for some extra shine
or vaseline to moisturize your lips. Then you can add some glitter if you feel fancy
or some flavour. I'm using coconut oil so I didn't use any flavours because I thought
it will be too much but if you have some neutral oil with no scent, then you can go ahead and
apply some flavour to it. I think this is a fun DIY and I really enjoyed
making my own makeup. The only problem that I didn't solve yet is, how to make them more
long-lasting. Any ideas? If you have any questions for me, please leave
them bellow and I'll try my best to answer them.
