Welcome to Opal Ridge
Well I'm not quite up there yet
But I thought I would take a quick video while I'm hangin' with my sheep friends over here.
But it looks like they're leaving the party anyways.
I've still got quite a bit of a ways up to the top,
but it looks like quite the beautiful ridge walk up there.
(The sheep didn't fear me much and would get within a few yards of me)
Welcome to the peak of Opal Ridge.
This is actually the highest mountain I've climbed this year so far at just over 2500 m.
Which really isn't high at all.
Which shows that I probably should be getting in some higher mountains while the days are long.
Off in the distance we have (Lower) Kananaskis Lake and right on the right edge of the lake is Mount Indefatigable
which I've been looking to do for quite some time
But for some reason the extra driving distance to get out there has stopped me
even though its maybe only 20 minutes farther than I drove today.
I really thought I would know most of the mountains once I got up here
but I don't seem to know any of them
I think the clouds are actually hiding the mountains I was planning to see
and unfortunately I didn't bring a map so I'm pretty clueless.
This is looking North down the ridge.
The North end is actually lower than the end I am at even though it looks a bit higher.
The entire ridge is rated 'difficult' in the scrambling book I have,
which means its, well, not for me.
I just went straight up to this one peak.
As you can see it's a pretty darn calm day because you can't hear any wind.
Anyways, have a great Saturday.
