Lorentz Forces
Lorentz forces are those that affect a conductor that bears an electric current in the presence of a magnetic field.
To show these forces we will use an electric generator
and this specially designed device.
The device is formed by two copper fixed tubes.
Neodymium magnets are used to produce a magnetic field
that crosses the metalic sheet in upward direction.
A mobile copper tube is used to close the circuit.
When the electric current is anticlockwise,
the mobile copper tube moves to the right.
This is due to the Lorentz Forces that result from the combination of the magnetic field and the electric current. 0:00:60.000,0:00:63.000 If the electric current is clockwise, 0:00:63.000,0:00:67.000 the mobile copper tube moves to the left. 0:00:68.000,0:00:72.000 The intense electric current is capable of producing thermo-weldings.
