CHLOE: Do you think I’m making a mistake?
TERRY: You already asked me that 2 days ago.
CHLOE: I did? What did you say?
TERRY: I said I don’t know.
CHLOE: Ha. And what was my response?
TERRY: You said I’m not very helpful.
CHLOE: Yeah, I wasn’t wrong…
But seriously Terry you *always* have something to say…
TERRY: What do you want me to say ah? That I’m freaking jealous? Does hearing that make you feel better?
That you’re making it out there and I’m stuck in a classroom with a bunch of freaking losers even though I know how good I am.
Of course I don’t think you’re making a mistake! This is the kind of call we’re all waiting for and you already freaking got it!
CHLOE: You think it’s soooo simple!
Do you think I like, after starting again, starting over again? Proving myself, *again*?
Sorting out storage, sorting out what comes after, working out what the people are gonna be like, is it smart leaving NYC, is it smart to leave school...
TERRY: Whoa! Slow down woman!
Look, I know you’ve been out there, this world is not new to you, you know how things work,
but I guess you’ve never been on a crossroad like this, when you feel like there’s so much to gain but also so much to lose.
Listen. My junior year of high school, I was offered a role in a feature film.
But because I was underage my guardian had to sign and of course my mom wouldn't have that, so I stayed in school.
I was bitter the entire school year.
The day after graduation this guy called me, saying that he heard me sing at the ceremony and that he wanted me to audition for the national tour of Aida
I ended up being understudy and a swing and I went on almost every night.
I even got an agent, and that feature was a flop.
CHLOE: Wait. So you're saying you think I should stay in school?
TERRY: No… I’m saying that this business means an entire lifestyle of choice making and decision making and standing at a crossroad.
You’ll make choices, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but you can’t cling to it. You have to let go.
You can spend an entire career wondering what might have been, but the truth is, there’s no way of knowing what might have been.
Make decisions, be aware of the bad that may come out of it, but concentrate on the good, and once you decide, be at peace with your decision. That’s the best you can do, always.
CHLOE: Wow. Terry Veil, who knew.
TERRY: Well, you never know till you ask, right?
CHLOE: Right.
Well, that’s a wrap for Chloe.
