Hello, and welcome to the Lincoln Dentist answer Zone. I’m Bralynn Newby with answers
to your most frequently asked dental questions. Our question today is, Which is better, manual
or electric toothbrushes? Our Lincoln dentist, Dr. Daniel Nolan has the answer.
Lots of people today prefer using an electric toothbrush over a manual one. But is it really
better to use power toothbrush? The answer is, it doesn't really matter, as long as you
brush your teeth correctly. The question is, do you?
To get the best results for your pearly whites, it is important to follow the prescribed oral
hygiene routine of brushing twice a day for at least two minutes each time.
The Electric Toothbrush Advantages. Various cleaning motions like rotary, oscillating,
and pulsating. At over 400 pulses per second, an electric brush does virtually all the work
for you. And many have built-in pressure sensors and automatic 2-minute timers.
Well, the disadvantages of an electric toothbrush are that replacement heads are more expensive
and can be difficult to find. Forgetting to charge your power toothbrush…and a dead
electric toothbrush is much less effective than even an old-fashioned manual one.
And they take up a lot of space the counter when they're stored.
The manula toothbrush advantages. The biggest advantage is obviously the cost,
and they've also become more advanced, with features like built-in tongue cleaners that
make it easier for us to practice that extra and oft-forgotten step of good oral hygiene.
So ultimately, the choice is up to you. You have to decide for yourself which type of
toothbrush makes the most sense for you, because the best toothbrush is...
(wait for it)
the one you use…as recommended, of course!
