I do have a very artistic side, mostly I like to draw and sketch things.
I'm good at doing things that I can see.
Here’s the first painting I’ve done, I always wear goggles.
It’s kind of my thing.
You get something from each little type of art that you do.
And it’s just so much fun, I like it.
What I love about Special Olympics
is that it helps me
as far as confidence, you know,
not being ashamed to know I have disabilities.
One of the major amazements is his talent
it covers a spectrum.
I am a freshman and Oakland Community College.
I am taking an
art class this semester
and speech class
and also acting class.
He's like a, just a natural born actor.
The smile comes from someplace deep
inside of him and you can tell. He has a really warm heart and a great spirit
and that's why he's just a wonderful student to teach.

It was really through his school that introduced him to Special Olympics, and
the teachers, the coaches
have been so supportive, they have
been the ones to push Charles.
I've enjoyed seeing him
blossom and express himself in these various activities.
He’s very easy to instruct.
He picks up any hints that we give him.
He's such a talented individual
to be able to see him advance as
as far as he has and to go further
is a great joy.
One of the things Special Olympics has done for Charles, that I really appreciate is the self-esteem
and the social aspect. Meeting different people, great coaches
great athletes
and they have given so much to him.
I think that's one of the reasons why he's doing so well.
Special Olympics has effected me.
It’s a chance to see that there are
lots of different kinds of people
and at the same time
we're still on the same.
I can't wait to compete and see what the challenges are for snowboarding.
That is going to be fun too.
