[THEME MUSIC PLAYING]
-Hey everyone.
It's time for another "Adventure Time" drawing.
I love drawing "Adventure Time" characters.
They are so fun.
I don't know if it shows up on camera.
But I switch my board.
I don't know what was going on.
I did two drawings today, the Mark Evans and Lemongrab.
And like I keep saying, experiment
with different papers, different boards.
I was happy with the way they came out.
But for some reason it just felt very fuzzy.
So that's why I got this board.
You can hear, it's a lot harder.
So hopefully when I draw Gunter, when I press down hard,
it'll make nice, smooth, even lines.
Always use a background.
You know, try different backgrounds.
That's another thing I didn't really mention.
Try wood, try just different textures.
Wood, this is like a pressed wood.
And also, if you have a sketchbook,
it might be good to get a sheet, a hard book to lay under it.
I draw OK in a sketchbook.
But it's very hard.
Because when you have pages, you know layers page,
it's very soft.
So that creates a whole different drawing environment.
That's just the tip for the day.
(SINGING) Ba-da-do-boop.
The random tip for the day.
[IMITATING TRUMPET]
-So let's get drawing Gunter.
[IMITATING GUNTER]
-I can't do good.
I can't do a Lemongrab or Gunter first.
I should try to think of what I can do.
OK, tree trunks.
(OLD PERSON VOICE) [INAUDIBLE] I want
to go with you on an adventure.
So let's try this.
So let's start with this real simple shape.
This is simple, more simple character than other ones.
So start with this real-- (USING FUNNY ACCENT)
Oh, this feels a lot better.
Doh-a-ho!
So start with this real simple-- I'm
trying to think of what I could call this shape.
I guess it looks like-- I don't know.
I'm like, at a loss for words.
But anyways, I started this real simple circle shape.
It looks like a gumdrop.
That's what it is, like a gumdrop.
Oh man, I want some candy gumdrops.
Burp.
So then for this, for that simple shape,
you're going to divide it.
So make a line.
Notice how the stomach's going to be a lot more wide.
So I'm going to start the line about right here.
See this bottom line we did?
It's all about proportions.
Whenever you get used to drawing,
it's all about proportions, knowing where to start.
So start it right there.
And bring it up.
And it curves inward.
And as it gets towards the top it
doesn't go all the way to the top.
It curves a little outward.
I'm making a pretty light sketch right now.
Then it comes up and curves over, just like that.
So you have first basic shape.
And your second, (IMITATING THE COUNT FROM SESAME
STREET) two, two shapes.
Then for the second shape you want
to make a little eye about right here.
And it's pretty big.
It's not too big.
But it is noticeably big, sort of right there.
And erase any guidelines around it.
Then right in here you're going to erase.
And you can even make it a little skinnier.
You know, with the starting guidelines
we did it's just to get your basic shape in.
Then you can mess around.
But then for the nose, the nose sits right close to that eye.
So right about here you just want to curve it.
And the beak comes out.
And always kind of turn your hand if you're doing--
or turn the paper, whichever works for you.
Well you know, instead of turning your hand
you can make a nice straight line.
Because all I'm doing is moving my hand.
My wrist stays where it is.
So it's like my hand pivots.
And you can see again, that nice beak shape.
And the beak is fairly pointed, not like, too extreme sharp.
It just has a little point to it.
And doing these characters, every little subtle detail
really makes it.
So then the other eye, you want to keep it
about as big as the last one.
This eye comes off of the body in this one.
It's like that.
So now you've got little Gunter's face here.
Oh man, this is cool.
It really looks like him.
Then we got to put the sparkle in.
But then we'll finish the eyes up last.
Take your eraser and right around here, erase that line.
Then the little fin shape.
Fin, I said Fin.
[SINGING TO HIMSELF]
-And then so this shape kind of comes out this shape.
And you know, just sketch it.
Nothing has to be exactly like my drawing.
Everybody's drawing's going to be a little different.
Just the fin shape, notice how it comes down.
It gets a little wider down here.
Then how it curves upward.
That's very important to note.
Like I said, the subtle details.
So pay close notice to how it comes down
this line then it comes up.
And then it meets this line that just comes down.
Then you got the little fin on this side.
So you could do kind of the same thing here.
Just curve it.
You could just make the little curve to show the fin.
(WITH FUNNY ACCENT) Oh, this is awesome.
I love drawing this.
Let's just erase those lines again.
Then for the eyes, real big highlight there.
And I'm making a highlight of an egg shape.
You can do it how you want.
He's got so many different little highlight shapes.
And so now, really come in.
Let's flesh out the character now
that we've got the sketch in.
So eyes, make it dark.
I usually use this pencil.
It's a Papermate number 2.
And it's got a much better-- I feel
like it gets better, darker lines.
I'm going to try a different pencil actually, maybe,
in darker here.
So I'm just coming in.
Once you get your sketch, you know, go back over the lines.
That's what's so important.
That's what you learn about drawing.
You never really want to start with the finished drawing
first.
In other words, don't start put in extreme dark lines in first
unless you're like, a master and you always
know exactly where lines are going to go.
So that's kind of important.
Always sketch it out first.
Because when you sketch it you get your basic forms.
Now luckily, this is a very simple drawing.
But at the same time, which I constantly say over and over,
the simpler the drawing isn't always easier.
Because the simpler it is, it just
means you have to pay a lot more attention to what you're doing
and a lot more attention to each little line more.
So there I go.
I got it.
(WITH FUNNY ACCENT) Oh, man, this looks awesome.
This looks awesome.
I'm so happy this one came out good.
I was so afraid I was going to come out, it's Gunter everyone.
[IMITATING GUNTER]
-I'll try to do an Ice King impersonation.
(IMITATING ICE KING) I'm the Ice King.
I want all the princesses in the kingdom.
So there's Gunter everyone, thank you.

Please keep on subscribing.
And thanks for the support everyone.
This is going good.
I really, really mean it.
Thank you so much.
Oh man, I'm hyper now.
Once I get a good drawing done I get hyped to another one.
Thank you.
I'm going to finish shading it up.
And oh yeah, for the shadow, put a little, little shadow
under the beak.
I'm going to finish shading it up.
And then I'll post it.
Thanks everyone.
