Ro: Hey guys, it's Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies! Today I have a special guest,
Ro: my friend Jake! Jake: Hello! Ro: He's a pretty cool guy and does YouTube, I will put a link down below to
Ro: his new YouTube channel. You should check it out!
Ro: It's pretty exciting! Jake: Thank you! Ro: Starting a new channel, he-eeyyyy! And I'm pretty excited today
Ro: as well because we are celebrating the 30th anniversary
Ro: of.... The classic film Ghostbusters! It originally came out in nineteen eighty-four,
Ro: and I can't believe it's been 30 years! Jake: That's crazy.
Ro: It is crazy, I used to watch it as a little kid. Jake: I know!
Jake: It was my go to movie! Loved it! Ro: Yeah me too! So today we're going to be making some
Ro: Ghostbuster cupcakes. Let's get started!
Ro: The things you will need, will be: we're gonna start with a cupcake tray and
Ro: we've lined them with a bunch of little paper liners to make it easy.
Ro: you're also gonna need a white cake recipe, you can use any white cake
Ro: recipe that you'd like. And, the things that you'll need with the box cake
RO: will be... Jake: 3 egg whites and you will also need 1/3 cup vegetable
Jake; oil and also 1 and 1/4 cup water
Jake: But that's not all! No, that's not all, at all
at all, at all... You also need a mixing bowl
Jake: of whatever variety you want and a mixer to then do the mixing.
Ro: Let's put it all together!
Ro: Alright Jake, bring over that bowl
Ro: And I'm gonna pour in the cake mix. Da-na-newh-newh-newh,
Ro: na-na-newh-newh-newh! Now you're gonna add 3 eggs.
Ro: And remember you just want the egg whites, so try to crack it,
Ro: and just put in the white. Jiggle the yolk. Jake: Oooh!
Ro: Back and forth. Jake: Oh! I was gonna cross, but we shouldn't cross
Ro: We shouldn't cross streams. Don't cross streams! Jake: Don't cross, no.
Ro: Now we're gonna add the oil and water.
Ro: And we're going to pour them at the same time and cross streams! Jake: you're never supposed to but we're gonna do it!
Ro: Oh it's so dangerous! Jake: Ohhhh I'm scared! Ro: Danger, Danger!
Jake: I think, oh, oh it's OK, everything's fine. Ro: In baking its OK.
Ro: Jake, fire it up. And I'll hold it still. Whoa! Whoa whoa whoa
Ro: Maybe turn it down, turn it down! Hahaha! Oh no! Jake: I'm just going to look slowly
Jake: and deeply into the camera while I do this. Ro: Is he creeping you out? Jake: Shhhhhhhhhhh
Ro: Let me know, let me know. Jake: Once the batter is mixed up
Jake: You're going to scoop it, into the pan. Ro: Yep, and I'm using a table spoon scoop
Ro: Because I just like to, any you use 2 of them. So 2 scoops of tablespoon.
Ro: 2 table.... Spoons. Jake: 2 table... scoops Ro: .... Words
Jake: You better bowl-ieve it! Ro: Ba-hahaha! Jake: Once you got your cupcake trays
Jake: filled, you're gonna pop it in the oven for 17 minutes at 350 degrees.
Jake: And also I like, you did a little Jackson ***. It's an art piece! Ro: Got a little messy!
Ro: While our cupcakes are baking, we're going to be making the green slime cupcake
Ro: filling! I'm so excited, this tastes really good. it tastes like fresh
Ro: lemons and it's like ectoplasm... Plasm. Jake: Plasm,
Jake: ectoplasm! Ro: Ectoplasm! So, the things you'll need will be green food coloring dye
Ro: You'll need 6 drops to get the right color. And, I would not suggest using the gel
Ro: food coloring for this, just the regular liquid-based. Because it doesn't
Ro: dissolve the best with this recipe.
Ro: Also, you're going to need 2 eggs and...
Jake: 2/3 cups lemon juice and 3/4 cup white sugar.
Ro: Yum yum yum! And you'll need a medium-size saucepan and a whisk.
Ro: Let's take all of this over to the stove top and put it together!
Ro: The first thing your gonna do is turn your stove on to low heat.
Ro: And, you're gonna pour the lemon juice and the sugar into the saucepan and whisk
Ro: together until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Ro: turn off the heat and slowly pour the hot lemon syrup
Ro: into a little bowl with the two lightly beaten eggs from earlier.
Ro: And remember to pour slowly, you don't want to cook your eggs and remember to
Ro: whisk constantly. Then you're gonna return the mixture into the saucepan over medium heat.
Ro: Add six drops of green food coloring and stir constantly until the curd
Ro: starts to bubble and thicken.
Ro: Now, remove the pan from the heat and strain the lemon curd through a strainer into a small bowl.
Ro: Lastly, the slime we just made willhave to chill
Ro: We're gonna put it in the fridge for 2 hours, you can cover it with some saran wrap.
Ro: Or, I've poured the slime into a little squeeze bottle to make it easier to decorate.
Ro: While the slime is chilling, we are going to make some decoration pieces for our cupcakes
Ro: Aren't these cute? Jake: They are adorable! Ro: they are little Ghostbuster logos.
Ro: So, I made this template in Photoshop.
Ro: I will put a link in the video description so if want to use the same template,
Ro: you can. So I made that for you guys, I hope it's helpful.
Ro: And, you're just gonna tape it down to a flat surface. Then you're gonna take
Ro: A piece of wax paper and tape it right on top. The first thing you're gonna do is take
Ro: take your red cookie icing and you're just gonna
Ro: trace all of the red on the logo. I like to do that outline a bit first.
Ro: And then you can just fill it in. And once you get your red done, you just let it sit for about 10 minutes
Ro: And then you can do the second color, white. Because you don't want them to bleed together
Ro: Now these are all dried, you're just gonna take out the bottom part. Do-do-do!
Jake: You can do it! Ro: And then we're gonna use
Ro: a food ink pen. These are edible pens and they're just made with, like, food coloring
Ro: ink in them. They're pretty neat to draw on the little faces on the ghosts
Ro: He's like kind of a little scared. Jake: Oooooh! Ro: And he's got his little eyebrows Jake: Oooooh I'm a ghost!
Ro: Now we're gonna bring everything together. We got our cupcakes here.
Ro: And, what we're gonna do is make a little hole in the center of our cupcake and you're gonna use
Ro: just a little decorating tip to do it. But you can use whatever you have laying around
Ro: the house. So you're just gonna gently press down in the center of your
Ro: cupcake about 3/4 of the way down, and then pull out.
Ro: and then look at that, perfect little hole in the middle your cupcake!
Ro: And we're gonna fill em with sliiiiiiiime! Jake: Sliiiiiime!
Ro: And, you can eat the inner part. It's like a mini ice cream cone.
Ro: Of cake! Jake: It is, cheers. Ro: Cheers.
Ro: You're gonna fill the center of your cupcake with our green slime.
Ro: Our ectoplasm. Jake: Oohhh, Squeeze that slime.
Jake: Oooh, that looks good! That looks so cool. Ro: now we are gonna frost our cupcakes with marshmallow
Ro: cream frosting. We put them in plastic baggies.
Ro: So you just snip the tip and then I like to frost by starting on
Ro: the outside, rooooop! Then you go all the way around
Ro: and then working your way in. Dooo-do-do-do-do-do-doooo
Ro: Now that the cupcakes are frosted, I'm just gonna just a little bit of green
Ro: slime on top for decoration. You don't need to do this because we've already
Ro: got it inside of the cupcake. Jake: Darn right.
Ro: But this is just for a little bit of looks, to look a little creepy!
Ro: OK, now the last step, we're gonna put our little logos on top
Ro: of our gooey cupcakes. I've got a sharp cutting knife because it helps
Ro: get the logos off of the wax paper. This is the part where you want to take your time.
Ro: These can be a little bit delicate. And then you just gonna bring him over here
Ro: and transfer him right on top.
Ro: Boom, there we go! Jake: That looks awesome! Ro: And then just do that to the rest of your cupcakes.
Both: Ta-da! Ro: Here are our Ghostbusters slime cupcakes. I hope you guys liked them! These were so
Ro: much fun to make
