Just because Naimh's deaf and blind doesn't mean to say that she can't communicate and Segal House really has found a way to get through to Naimh.
Just because Naimh is a complex child doesn't mean to say that she can't have life experience outside the house.
Olivia has been diagnosed as being Autistic she had been talking and she'd lost her speech about 8 or 9 months before they said she probably wouldn't regain it
then she came to Segal in September and she started talking just after Christmas. My heart melted it was just like - yay!
We have 54 children on the roll books we'd have 27 children daily but we have a very high waiting list.
We need to fundraise now to be able to maintain the nursery and to be able to offer those 54 families a service that's appropriate to their needs.
I know I leave Michael in here in the mornings and I know he's happy and I know that he's well looked after.
He's getting speech therapy, he's getting occupational therapy, he's getting all the therapies that he needs to bring him on.
For us, as a family, Segal House you know that he's being cared for with the most amazing staff ever.
They treat them like their own. And I am going to get emotional.
They're so caring. They love them so much and you can tell Segal House is the best place to send them.
When Ross first came he wasn't walking, within 6 months of coming here the physios had him up on his feet.
He had very limited speech, he couldn't communicate and really in a very short space of time he has a very sound word base and he's signing,
and you can imagine what that meant to him as a wee person and to us as a family. He really is very socialable now.
The donations will go towards maintaining the service and enabling us to be able to provide a really good service for parents and children.
I do think this is a very special place, I would just ask people to give generously.
I don't think you could give your money to a better place. The work they do is fabulous and it touches so many people in so many different ways, you've no idea.
