Hey gang. Sarah Hill from Veterans United Live and the Veterans United Network, we are
glad to have a full house here today to talk about veterans united and also have some individuals
joining our hangout and watching our stream today to hear why veterans united is a great
place to work.
So what kind of positions are we primarily talking about, for people watching?
Well uh first and foremost, I would encourage people to go to our careers page check out
the current openings we have. I believe we have fourteen or fifteen openings currently.
Some of those are rolling openings though, meaning that we look for them with frequency.
For example, web application developers. It's a position that we recognize there is a high
value to having high quality individuals in the position. We're consistently looking for
high talent in our development area and our production area such as loan officers and
assistant loan officers, and our main branches here in Columbia, as well as at our branch
offices. We're often looking to bolster those teams as well. Especially as our marketing
departments and some of the other departments within our company create the potential that
we're constantly striving to reach, its on the production side that we can reach further
to find ways to recognize that potential.
We encourage people to come to our careers page often, to see what we might have. It's
right there by the way. We'll come to our careers page and see what we have open and
they can also sign up to get updates whenever new positions become available. Great. And
how many people has veterans united hired. We're on track this year to already hire over
400 this year and we're close to 500 hires this year. Veterans united was recently named
one of the top job creators in the nation, and in the top thirty. And also named as one
of the best places to work in the nation as well. So I want to bring in some other individuals
here. Mike Roof lets start with you, if you could go ahead and unmute your mic. Tell people
what you do at Veterans United and what motivated you to come to our team as a web app developer.
I actually kind of fell into this job and could not be more happy about it. I graduated
about two months before I graduated, all my friends were like, "Hey I'm working at Circuit
City and bumming it in St. Louis, and I'm like whatever. I didn't really want to do
that. And a couple of my friends were like, "Hey I just got hired at -- at that point
in time it was VA Mortgage Center. We've gone through a name change since then. And I was
just like, okay I'll see what this place has to offer, checked out the career page and
I was like, alright, it caught my interest. It caught my interest with the free snacks
and the massages and stuff. What really kept me here is the community of people. Ya know,
developers kind of have this stigma that we're all a bunch of nerds but you come into our
office and it couldn't be farther from the truth. I mean, we have our nerdy-ness but
we're really a close group of people and we're real social, get along with anybody, and the
environment we have here is just great.
