Hi, my name is Ify Ike-Nwabuoko and I've been at Roedean for six years, and I'm from Nigeria
- Lagos, Nigeria - and I'm in the lower Sixth. I chose Roedean because both of my sisters
came here. So, I didn't look at any other schools, because I had my mind so set and
I wanted to come here. Because I just saw their experiences here and how much fun they
had, and it was visited, so I really wanted to come here. When I first came to Roedean
I just thought it was so huge, and it was just so international, and it just made me
feel like the world wasn't such a huge place, because I just met so many different people
from places I've never been before, so I just thought, like 'Wow!', it was just over-whelming.
The best thing about being a boarder is you always have your friends around you. If you're
ever feeling down in the evening you can just go to the room beside you and just have a
conversation with your friends, and it's so easy to talk to people because there's always
people around and you just feel you have a lot of support. My favourite subject is Physics
because I just love the idea of the universe and how it works, and how it's just so much
bigger than everyone else, and just how it so out of our control, and I just like to
learn more. In my free time I like reading -- I love reading books and I like going to
different places, like different exhibitions and art galleries, and l love going to the
cinema. I like Brighton firstly because it's by the sea, it's always such a beautiful view,
just wherever when you look around, and I love the city because it's just so diverse,
and it has such interesting things, and is just full of interesting people who you can
just talk to, and they're all so welcoming and nice. The achievement that I'm most proud
of is probably my GCSEs because just working for so long for two years up to one result,
and I didn't expect them to be as good as they were, so it was just quite pleasing and
satisfactory to see the results on paper. After I leave Roedean I would like to study
Engineering because I like that I would be able to understand how different things work,
like things that you usually wouldn't think about, like a film, like a computer. My parents
think that it's really great that I'm at such an international school because they grew
up in Nigeria so they think that I will just have so much more opportunity in life and
they just think it's amazing, they're completely in love with Roedean!
