We are Hamburg's number one chamber orchestra.
The Laeiszhalle is our residence.
Simon Gaudenz works on programmes
with repertoire from all eras.
In Hamburg, much of the chamber orchestra repertoire,
is rarely played beyond the concerts of the Camerata.
I've long had the desire
to work more closely with a chamber orchestra,
so it was really great
that after our first concerts the orchestra came to me
to offer this exciting opportunity.
I also really appreciated
their eagerness to extend our collaboration to repertoire
we hadn't been working on before.
Relax ...
Thank you. You think too far ahead!
Do you know Wayne Rooney?
When asked, if he planned his shots,
he said, "I never take aim. If I don't know
where the ball is going, how would the goalie know?"
So this transition has to emerge suddenly.
Simon Gaudenz
has come to the Camerata at a time
when the orchestra is craving new challenges.
Up until now, all the projects
we did with Simon Gaudenz
there was a chemistry that released
an incredible enthusiastic energy in the orchestra.
It was the right momentum to start something new,
an optimistic spirit emerges.
It is so wonderful when a concert experience
gives you something totally unprecedented.
We're at the point of a new perspective.
The way the orchestra sounds
shows we're on the right track.
Everyone is highly motivated.
We have great players,
including new members.
So the Camerata is really starting to take off now.
If the Camerata didn't already exist,
it would have to be founded.
It covers many fields in music
the big three orchestras do not cover.
It would be a great loss, if it didn't exist.
This applies to baroque music,
classical music that doesn't call for a large orchestra
and of course to contemporary music.
Another focus of the Camerata
is music education for children and adolescents.
They nurture new talent.
I'm convinced that
especially Mozart's music with its opera-like character
and its dramatic culminations,
where tears flow without him having to put it into words,
offers a wonderful opportunity to get young people involved.
In the end, all that exists
is pure creative passion for music.
Simon Gaudenz is sure, and we are convinced,
that we can develop our position in Hamburg further,
throughout Germany
and succeed on an international level.
