Hello Andre Djian
Hello Buymedesign
Thank you for your exclusive invitation to meet you at your home
My pleasure Buymedesign !
Nice private lobby. What is this sculpture ?
It is called "the Mask" from a Spanish sculptor Jose Soubira Puig.
It is made of wooden wine barrels in 2 pieces as you can see.
Shall we follow you ?
Yes please with pleasure
Nice modern paintings to dress the hallway.
This is the living room.
A space organized around 2 main ideas: comfort and design.
A patchwork of small and large pieces of art spread around the room.
It is Christmas, we have these decorated trees in our homes.
Andre Djian, what are your clients' needs ?
Nowadays each client wants something tailor made.
In the past, there used to be standard styles associated with a period of time, like the Neo-Classic or the Baroque etc.
but now, each client wants to be differentiated from others and have his own mix of styles, his own taste.
Our role as Interior Designer is to help them express their own tastes, personality in their decoration.
Andre Djian, do men and women have different requests and needs ?
Yes, there are very different needs. European Women would first focus on their kitchen,
women would focus on a very practical space and accessories.
Men, would look more for comfort and focus on the living room
by looking for furniture. The approach to the decoration is very different at the beginning
but both would start investing in pieces of art and paintings as soon as the immediate needs are fulfilled.
Andre Djian, as a men what would I invest in first for the decoration of my home ?
If you already have the basic furniture, go for paintings and sculptures.
A quite interesting painting here as you are from Hong Kong:
here is a painting from Olivier Debre, a French abstract painter who died a few years ago.
M. Debre painted the red curtains of the 2 operas in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
His painting evolved alternatively from sign to pasting and reciprocally.
Men tend to be fond of sculpture. I have very classical ones.
Like this Epheb from 1920 and also this Renout, a Dutch who only works on animals, from the mythology.
A very masculine sculpture made of rough material.
otherwise paintings like this colorful one by Karel Appel, a Dutch poet or another one from Yasse Tabucchi Japanese "green gold".
This is my environment, this is where I spend a lot of my time.
I enjoyed very much sharing this with you Buymedesign and your audience.
Thank you so much Andre Djian. Happy New Year 2011 and looking forward to meeting you again with our readers soon.
