Hi Dr. Simcha Shapiro here with Expert Village. And we're going to be talking about a technique
called cranial osteopathy. As I said before, there is a very commonly known technique which
is derived from osteopathy, called cranial sacral therapy. Which is very much like it.
Now, cranial osteopathy as we said, works on the bones of the head. So most commonly
it?s practiced by putting the hands on the head. You would think that if it works with
the bones of the head that the person would have to apply a lot of force. The opposite
is actually true. There is very little force applied and in fact in showing you the technique,
there is not much to show. Because almost everything that is taking place, is taking
place with minute, subtle movements which are beyond the ability of this camera to pick
up. So, often times the practitioner will be sitting at the top of the patient's head,
but, here I'm going to sit at the side. This is another way that its treated. And, by feeling
very small, subtle movements in the head, and working with them, we can help to release
things and help the patient feel better. This is a very good technique used on small children,
babies who have suckling problems, people who are bedridden and can help many, many
things that are a little bit outside of most of the conventional use of most of Osteopathy.
