Did the NHS use PIP implants? Well, it did in small amounts. So, for some cases,
breast reconstruction, which is when people have parts or all of their breast removed
for breast cancer, and this is often reconstructed with a breast implant, a number of patients
did have reconstruction with PIP implants, but this was a very, very small amount of
patients. Some plastic surgeons did use PIP implants, but this again was a very small
number, because plastic surgeons generally can choose what type of implant they use,
and generally they didn't use PIP implants for a number of reasons. I will discuss those
reasons why they didn't choose those implants in other videos. So, essentially, the NHS
didn't use them very much, and the private plastic surgeons didn't use very many PIP
implants. Most PIP implants were used by the major companies, which performed the vast
majority of breast augmentations in the United Kingdom. The companies used pretty much exclusively
PIP implants. The surgeon didn't have a choice about the implant they used. So the vast majority
of people who have got PIP implants were treated by one of these companies, and the problem
is that some of these companies have now gone into liquidation and transferred their assets.
I've talked a little bit about how you can possibly get your money back if you have had
a PIP in other videos in our series. So if you would like to find out more about PIP
implants, please click on the link below. That will take you straight to our website,
