In our classrooms, we use a variety of methods
to display information so that our students
can have immediate access to the curriculum.
One of our challenges has been how to give immediate
and relative access to the math content being taught.
One solution has been interactive boards.
In our High School math classes,
we use the Mimio Interactive White Board System.
This is a unit that can make any white board
an interactive board by capturing what is written
on the white board and transmitting it to a computer.
We took this one step further by distributing
the video output to monitors stationed at every desk.
Low vision students can get as close to the "board"
as they need while the teacher is presenting or lecturing.
The material that is captured can be saved and given
to students who may have been absent from class that day.
We have expanded this idea by using SMART Boards
along with the distributed video in various classrooms,
including elementary classes,
health and nutrition classes and science.
