Hi my name is Stacie Royer and I'm a career specialist from Austin, Texas. I'm going to
talk to you today about how to become a judge. The first thing that you'll need to know is
that you'll have to become an attorney by receiving your juris doctorate degree from
an accredited university. From that point you'll need to pass the bar exam and practice
as an attorney. At that point you can decide what court you want to work for, there are
many different courts to choose from you can work starting from the city level and go on
all the way up to county, district, state, or even U.S. From that point you'll need to
apply for a judgeship and you'll also need the political support because this type of
position will require you to become appointed or elected by your local citizens into this
position. Once you become a judge then you will need to continue your legal education
to contain or obtain the knowledge of all of the different changing statutes and different
court requirements that your state requires. And that is how you become a judge.
