Yes. Kaiser definitely saved my life.
It would have progressed till been more serious.
Possibly death.
I got a mailer in the mail with a kit to test stool for blood.
Just kind of set it aside for a while.
And finally I went ahead and did it.
And sent it in and got a response back from Kaiser
practically right away, that the tests are positive for blood.
They found a tumor.
I didn't have any symptoms whatsoever.
Within a couple weeks, I had the surgery done.
First you're basically in a state of shock
because you're thinking, you know
am I going to lose my life partner?
What's going to be happening from this point forward?
What's the next step? What's the prognosis?
I definitely think that Kaiser saved my husband's life.
And if they hadn't sent that stool kit,
I doubt whether it would have ever been found
until it really was. You know,
metastasize to the rest of his body.
Because it was already starting in his lymph nodes
when they did the surgery.
I wrote this letter to Kaiser to thank them
for sending the kit in the mail to my husband.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Kaiser Permanente
for deciding to screen everyone over the age of 50
for colon cancer.
This is probably saved my husband's life.
A few weeks ago, my husband received a fecal occult
blood test in the mail to screen for colon cancer.
A large malignant tumor was discovered.
All indications are that this is a localized cancer.
This would not have been the case if Kaiser had not
implemented the screening testing
as he was exhibiting no unusual symptoms.
Please pass this on to the wonderful persons
who decided to implement this procedure.
I cannot thank them enough for giving my husband
this opportunity to live
and keep me company for many years to come.
We have been with Kaiser for over 30 years
and I would never think about going anywhere else.
Well I plan on keeping her for a while too.
After what I've been through, I'm telling
all my friends and family that they need to be screened.
