We're calling this Project Greenhouse. And I'm the Invisible Man.
So what does it mean to become invisible? For the next month I'll become carbon neutral,
meaning I won't be burning any fossil fuels, like gasoline or oil. I won't release any
greenhouse gases like from my grill or from the cigarettes that contribute to global warming
and I'll produce much less garbage and waste. So this whole thing is not going to be easy.
When I first heard that Jock was going to do this. I laughed. I thought he was kidding.
I felt there was no way it was going to work. I'm a pretty typical American guy. I drive
an SUV, I smoke a pack a day, and I love steak and cheese burgers.
So good. So last week I went to my doctor to find out
exactly what kind of shape was I in before I went to this whole green process. I can
tell you, the results were not so pretty. And where you've been is been 4 ? years.
I kind of only go to the doctor when I feel sick or something like that.
I got on the scale for the first time in four years.
Doctor: 231... you're not obese... But you are overweight.
Then it was time to check my blood pressure. Now your blood pressure was on the border,
not that great when I saw you about f our years ago. And then we haven't seen you
but have you had your blood pressure taken at all?
Nope. It's 150 over 100 right now.
It turns out my blood pressure is 150 over 100. Pretty high for anyone but especially
high for a guy my age. And as you lose the weight, as you eat better,
the blood pressure will get better. And then the real moment of truth.
You were smoking. Yes.
How is that going? I'm still going to be with smoking.
The good news is going green maybe just the doctor ordered.
Doctor: You own the changes you make now as a young person will affect you for the rest
of your life, so it's never too late to stop smoking.
Right. I'll see you in two weeks. We'll check
your blood pressure, we're weigh in, see if you can lose five pounds. And, go from
there. Okay.
All right, take care. So I'm off on my dream to go green. You've
seen my friends ridicule me, you've been to the doctor with me, and you know I have
a lot of work to do if I'm going to succeed in my mission to be the invisible man. Over
the course of the month I'll be eating healthy, eating locally, getting a lot more exercise
than I have in a long time so come one back as I take my first step into carbon neutrality
and going one hundred percent green.
