Hi, this is Sage Kimble and I'm the mad stamper.
I'm the creator of Stamping Madly where we provide outstanding creative
coaching and training
for paper crafters card makers and scrap bookers
as well as the finest paper crafting supplies available.
I showed you how to color the tweet leaves stamp in a previous video.
Now i want to demonstrate how to print the image at home so you can use it in a
hybrid card.
What i didn't show you in the last video is how to save your project. It's a good
idea to save it several times as you're working on it so you don't lose any
changes.
You do that
by going up here to the
menu at the top and clicking on file
and Save.
You can also use command-S on a mac
or control-S in windows.
Since I'm planning to use this for a hybrid card instead of creating an entire
digital card,
I'm going to change it to a j-peg file
so I can print it from another program
MDS 2 will eventually have a feature that allows printing at home
more easily,
but for now I use microsoft word.
Go over to the design center
and this time look for the section that says Share
and you'll see there's an area; there's a button that includes JPEG
p_n_g_ and p_d_f.
Click on that button
and the Photo Export Wizard will come up.
So there's some settings you need to be aware of here
and the image type
is JPEG, which is what i want
and the pages; it says 1 to 4. When you're creating a card in
My Digital Studio, it creates four pages.
So I want to change that
and I'm going to Clear All
and just click the one I want,
which is that fully colored reversed image.
Then I come down to the right and click OK.
It says a Tweet Leaves 3
JPEG project
already exists and would I like to delete the contents of the existing
folder before ex-
porting new pages
and I'm going to say Yes.
If I didn't want to do that, I could cancel out of here
and save this project with a different name,
so that I would know which project I'm opening when I go looking for it
on my computer.
But for now I'm just going to say yes.
I'm going to leave the Image Size at large, the File compression default
and I'm going to
use the location that I've already set up
in the past, on this same project.
Then I come down here and click Finish.
And in a real quick time you've got your JPEG.
I'm finished with My Digital Studio for now, so I am going to minimize it
and
open a Word file.
In Word, if I go up here to the
menu at the top
and click on View, I have some options about the kind of layout that I'm going
to be working with. So if I click on Print Layout,
this is what you usually use if you just doing text.
But if you're going to work with images, by far the easiest layout is Publishing
and that's what Publishing looks like.
I always like to increase the size so that I can see what I'm doing a little better
and then
because I don't want to
print this on an entire eight and a half inch by eleven inch piece of photo paper
and waste the rest of it,
I'm going to go up here to File
and Page Setup
and change the size
to four by six.
And this isn't exactly a four by six
project; its fourth and a quarter by five and a half.
But all I want is the image. I'm not trying to
print an entire card face.
So four by six will work; I click OK
I'm going to change the
margins
by going into Layout
and making them all point five.
It won't give me error messages that way.
And then
I'm going to increase it
in size a little further.
okay
Now i go into Finder
and look for my
project which is
Tweet Leaves 3 JPEG.
And I click on it to make sure that indeed is the correct
image and it is.
In Windows,
your My Digital Studio
projects are in My Documents.
And I just drag-and-drop this over onto my
Word document
and i can move it
and this imports it in exactly the same size it was
created in.
So this will
show me that
it's four and a quarter by five-and-a-half.
When i click on this
sizing
circle down in one of the corners.
So that's perfect. That means
this image when I print it out is going to be the size I want.
I'll go
into the print window
and make sure I've got my photo printer
chosen
and then I'm going to choose the kind of
paper that I'm using
which is the
Premium
Presentation Matte Paper,
and you see the print call quality automatically changes to Photo
and from there I'm going to go ahead and click print.
Every printer will have different setting options
and you'll just have to figure out how to choose the kind of paper you're going
to print on;
whether it's photo paper
or card stock or whatever.
I only know the printers I use, so I can't help much more than that.
Here's the image after I printed it out.
I found that in order to fit well in the Autumn Accidents die,
I actually had to go back into the Word document
and decrease the size of the image a bit.
Otherwise it cuts off parts of the leaves.
Just like crafting in your stamp room,
you need to be willing to experiment a little to get the effect that you want.
I hope this video gives you the confidence
to try printing images for hybrid projects from your own printer,
which will open up a whole new world of possibilities for your paper crafting
adventures.
