First: Double-click over the "BackgammonBoard.blend" that I've sent to you.
Blender 2.66a will open the backgammon scene.
You can see this: In the left side is the 3D object...
...and in the right side, the texture file.
Press F12 (it means: "Render the final image!")
Hey! Look! The board is being rendered!
The render of this board takes 41 seconds. So, let's wait.
Take a look... The board has taken the texture of the right side.
Render finished! Here it is.
Perfect! Then I'll change that texture.
I'll use Photoshop, but you can use Gimp or whatever you want.
I drag the texture.jpg over Photoshop.
Now I'll use a marble image that I found in Google images.
I move the marble over the wood zone.
There's no need that the texture fits perfectly over the wood area.
Now I'll change the Black Triangles.
But I won't change the colour...
Instead, I'll put a funny paw over the triangle.
Ok... I did it.
Now I'll change the Outline of the Black Triangles.
I'll put a golden colour.
Not perfect, but it will work.
Now the White Triangles colour.
I'll create an ugly red one.
Disgusting. I like it.
Finally, the outline of the White Triangles.
Mmm... a green one.
Awful.
Horrible texture. Perfect for testing!
Let's saving it.
I give it a name: texture2.jpg.
Now go back to Blender. He's waiting for us!
Now the simple trick for changing the old texture:
Click on: Image, and then: Replace image.
Very easy! Just have to search the image.
Texture2.jpg. Here it is.
The texture in the right side has changed!
Press F12 again! Render it! Do it!
Look! Look! The board is rendering with the new texture!
Take a look! The paws, the outlines...
You can see that the logo is less visible...
...because of the light white texture.
I can show how to change the logo alpha.
But the important thing is that the render is done!
The marble texture doesn't look bad.
Perfect! Let's save the image.
Press F3 (it means: "Save as image...")
Now write a name, and save it in a folder.
We did it!!!
Here's the final image for a theme in the game.
You can do all themes you need, Maareyes!
