What could I do with a history degree? I do not want to become a history teacher.
Since history is considered a liberal arts major there are quite a few roads you could
go down when it comes to choosing your career.
Yeah I noticed a lot of the help wanted ads just say that they require a 4 year degree.
It didn't really matter what it was in.
What are you interested in?
History of course, or else I would be getting my degree in it.
Many history majors go on to law school. Others go on to get their teaching credentials.
Neither one of those interest me.
If you actually want to use your vast knowledge of history, you may want to work for a museum
or become a librarian. You could also go on to pursue a path in archeology or anthropology.
Those do sound interesting, I would love to see these ancient cultures up close.
Why not pursue your Ph.D. and become a world renowned expert?
Sounds compelling, but how would I pay the bills in the meantime?
Become a journalist or a historian. Those are the perfect fit for a history major.
What else should I consider?
You might want to consider going for a double major so you have a few more options once
you graduate.
What would be a good second major to choose that pairs up nicely with history?
Don't choose another liberal arts: go with communications, journalism or a science that
interests you.
History plus archeology sounds like the perfect pair for me. I will be the next Indiana Jones!
Then go for it!
