Alright, the next thing we want to talk about is Overcoming Ethnocentrism. And this is,
this is a big problem, and this is something that we really have to work on. What is Ethnocentrism
is? It's basically feeling that your culture is the best. In fact, other cultures really
aren't even any good because yours is the only one that's any good. And the funny thing
is that all cultures feel that way. Everybody thinks their culture is the best and that
other cultures aren't very good, I mean, you are well aware that lots of cultures hate
Americans because of the things we do things. Unfortunately, we feel the same way about
other cultures. So we have to overcome this. Well there's three steps that we can do to
work on overcoming our Ethnocentrism. And the first one is to be aware of distinctions.
Be aware; accept the fact that people are different. They do it different than we do.
And that's okay. Whatever it is, whether it's relation, in relation to time, to money, to
materialism, to food, to roles, to status, whatever it is, just be aware that those things
do exist. Get outside of your world, of your culture and become aware of other cultures
and their differences.
