This is Mary Murphy and you are watching Expert Village. When you make pumpkin pecan pie you
can use a variety of pumpkin or squash. Of course you can always go to the grocery store
and buy a can of already prepare cook pumpkin pie but in this case we are going to use some
squash from the garden. These squashes all squashes have a slightly very personality
this is butter nut, this is a Kuri Uchiki it also called Kuri and this is a small sugar
pumpkin. These 2 are delicate but they are very good to eat and only if you needed to
you would use them in a pie but they would have to be puree. A butternut is a very nutty
sweet flavor I would recommend that and that is what we would be using today. Sugar pumpkins
are also very good for pumpkin pie and Kuri Uchiki will make a it a more orange color
you would actually in the Kuri Uchiki you use the skin of a Kuri Uchiki. This one needs
to be cleaned up a bit but you would use the skin of this. Now we would use the butternut
for the pumpkin pie today and prepare it.
