Saudi Arabia eases potential Blackberry ban. An agreement has been reached between Research
in Motion (RIM), the Canadian communication services firm that also manufactures the Blackberry
cell phone, and Saudi Arabia to allow the company to continue offering the Blackberry
phone and service there, while ensuring that there is no compromise to Saudi national security.
As part of the agreement, RIM is placing a computer server inside the country to provide
access to relevant data, in exchange for the continuation of Blackberry email, messaging
and web browsing capabilities.
Research in Motion and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we are glad for your work together that has
culminated in a mutually fruitful agreement. Wishing you many more collaborative opportunities
that offer the highest benefit to the good-hearted people of Saudi Arabia
