Homeland and Modern Family may have taken home the Emmy's biggest honors, but what we
really want to know is - who ruled the red carpet?
Vibrant yellow gowns were definitely the leading trend for TV's biggest night. Julie Bowen,
Julianne Moore, and Claire Danes all won big in their lucky yellow dresses. It was unexpected
now that fall is officially here, but the red carpet ended up being a total scorching
sweat fest so this refreshing pop of color totally worked in their favor. On the flip
side, we also saw a lot of slate grey dresses – Homeland's Morena Baccarin was one of
my favorites of the whole night – her Basil Soda gown had just the right amount of sex
appeal with that plunging neckline without going overboard. And let's not forget Revenge
star Emily VanCamp - her J. Mendel gown was sheer and pretty but still structured, tough
girl-chic, and it fit her like a glove.
Unfortunately not every gunmetal gown as a hit. Sadly I wasn't too fond of Christina
Hendricks' dress – the belt was a little too bulky, especially when she already has
so much going on in this area, and I've definitely seen her work those curves in a way that did
her much more justice than this gown did. I also wasn't a huge fan of Connie Britton's
look. Her glittery halter dress was a bit homecoming/prom for me and I think her slicked-back
hair may have dated her a bit. So those are my hits and misses of the Emmys red carpet
