Ralphy>> Hello everyone.
Welcome back to Spectre's Corner.
I am very glad that you came to accompany me again.
I don't know about you, but I have a lot of fun when you come to see me.
Seeing new faces is always a great thing.
Let's face it.
I am a little tired of always being alone around here. [crickets chirping]
Sure, I talk to Spectre from time to time.
There is nothing like having someone face to face.
But then again it could get difficult when I wish to be alone
I will admit, I wish Spectre was more talkative
I guess disembodied voices need their alone time as well.
Well, that's enough of my rambling.
Let's continue on with why you are here.
Let me channel Spectre.
Hmm.... This is weird.
It seems that I am having a difficult time channeling him today.
I know he would love to introduce you to another poem.
I am going to keep trying.
Darn! Why won't you come in?!
Everyone, it seems that I may have to do the reciting again.
I don't know why Spectre won't come in.
Spectre: It's because I already have a host this time.
Ralphy: Spectre! Is that really you?
Spectre: Yes Ralphy. I found this individual and he makes a great host.
Ralphy: Oh, I see. So you don't need me anymore.
Spectre: Oh yes I do Ralphy. You're not going anywhere. I'm using this lad here because
you will no longer have to absorb all of my twisted memories. You and I are a team. I'm
not going anywhere without you.
Ralphy: That is very reassuring Spectre.
Spectre: I'd never leave my little buddy. And besides, this also gives you someone to
talk to when I'm not available.
Ralphy: Yes, I guess you're right!
Spectre: Oh hello everyone! I'm glad to see all of you here. I apologize you had to witness
our little dialog here.
So let me get started with today's poem. It is called The Plight of the Caring.
We have travelled together hand in hand
Overcoming horrible weather and tumultuous land
We have leapt over your pits of fear
The way in front of us is now so clear
There shall be no more broken glass
There are no more snakes hidden in the grass
You have immunity as you please
You can't be sideswiped by any disease
For when you approach me I am your shield
I'll work on all sores that need to be healed
I don't promise to heal them but I promise to try
Never in solitude will you fall down and cry
We march in unison, both fast and slow
When it gets dark I'll lead by my glow
I shall hold you when it gets cold
I shall feed you when we get old
I am the thorns while you are the rose
I am the cornfield that welcomes your crows
To see you grin I would break my arm
Just so I could sample your adorable charm
But as we travel your head gets turned
I continue beside you even though I'm burned
Your attention goes to another man
And within my silence I must stand
You can talk about him with such wonderful glee
It seems he is the key to set your soul free
My heart may be broken but I won't be bitter
For I am tattered rags while he stands forth glitter
He is nothing but greatness within your eyes
And I can't protect myself with personal lies
So I'll lead you past where the bad things roam
I'll get you to him, turn away and walk... back alone
Glancing at the man, I don't give you any blame
You'll hear nothing but the wind when you call my name
You'll temporarily wonder about the one that was there
But then you'll focus on your prize and no longer care
Of course I'll think about the woman I lost
That pain is a salad that mustn't be tossed
Trudging I find myself in a bubbling bog
Then I'll disappear within my personal fog
Ralphy>> Wow! Spectre that is a powerful yet, very sad poem in a way.
Spectre>> Well Ralphy, no matter how much we would like to change some things. Sometimes
we have to face the fact that they will never change.
Ralphy>> But why are things like that?
Spectre>> That my friend is a question for the ages. No matter how hard we try, there
are times that we have to give up.
Ralphy>> Isn't the saying Never Give Up?
Spectre>> That is the saying my friend, but the reality is if you've tried too many times
and continuously failed then change your goals. This is only after you've given it your all
though. Reach for your dreams but if they are still too far away and you are too tired
to try again, it is time to approach another gate.
Ralphy>> I guess that is a way to look at it. Well everyone, allow me to thank you for
dropping by Spectre's corner today. I certainly hope you enjoyed yourselves and that you'll
come back soon. Take care my friends.
Spectre>> It is always a pleasure my friends. I hope to see you all in the corner again
soon. Take care everyone.
